I got rejected

accepted 4.0 econ…
should’ve applied haas :(

I was rejected with 4.92 GPA and applied for chem engineering. Who can tell me why under the condition that I fulfilled all the major reqs and IGETC? Nooooooooooooooo!!!

I mean 3.92 GPA. Obviously, I am out of my mind…

@beyond3000
Congrats! I wish I was in your shoes, now I have to decide urghhh…

Any1 looked @ their MyFinAid yet, I have a technical Question…

@beyond3000

I was also rejected by UCLA. I was over-confident to choose a major that I still have three pre-reqs uncompleted. But for Cal I have them all taken care of.

Rejected.
Political science
3.31
Obviously.
I guess i will have to trade the grunge of Berkeley for the forests of Santa Cruz! Good luck in the Fall everyone, whether you were rejected or accepted

@spiritz

me too, i didn’t complete all the pre-req for UCLA, need 2 physics classes and 1 chem class. But I’ve always wanted to go to CAL and CAL only.

@Sh2mathecon

Is it too late to submit financial aid? cuz I didn’t know that I had to apply financial aid for Cal in March

Decision (including term): Accepted Fall
Intended Major: History
UC GPA: 3.94 (unweighted)
Major GPA: 4.0
Major Pre-reqs: Yes (4.0)
IGETC: Yes (4.0)

Which other UC’s did you apply to?
Applied: UCSC, UCSB, UCLA, UCB, UCD
Accepted: All
SIR: UCB or UCLA

Extracurriculars? An endless list, I am an older student. Founded company. Blah Blah.

State: California
School Type: California Community College
Ethnicity: Cannibal
Income Bracket: N/A

Reflection: Do not listen to CC counselors and remember it is your future, not theirs, so do your research and get good grades.

Strengths: Maintained a perfect transcript my entire academic life. Thought of it as an artwork, it reads like a map of an organized and rational person consistently taking classes to transfer to a four year university. “By the numbers”. Did tons of research the summer before I started attending Community College. Overcame horrible administration blunders every semester at my CC. Wrote an honest and heartfelt (not sentimental) personal statement that no one else could possibly have written for me. Zero whining about hardships. Expressed a deep committment to my education and the community.

Weaknesses: Academically, none, and that is what matters here.

@northbeach which school are you leaning towards?!

I believe the deadline to be considered for maximum FA was march 2nd, but I’d still apply, I mean there is really nothing to lose!

IS ANY1 Seeing their CAL GRANT in the award details?!!

Accepted for Fall 2012. Whew.

Did anyone else get invited to the welcome receptions on May 5th?

Decision (including term): Accepted Fall
Intended Major: Computer Science (L&S)
UC GPA: 3.78
Major GPA: 4.0
Major Pre-reqs: Of the available pre-reqs 3/5 done, 2 I didn’t have time. The others weren’t available, which is pretty common.
IGETC: Yes

Which other UC’s did you apply to?
Applied: UCI, UCSD, UCB
Accepted: All
SIR: UCB (most likely) or UCSD

Extracurriculars: 6 years work experience in the field

State: California
School Type: California Community College
Ethnicity: White

Reflection: Figure out where you want to go and which major you want to do right away. Use assist.org and figure out the best group of classes and can be transferred to the schools you’ll most likely get into. Do your own research! The school administration is worthless. Aim for an A in every class, especially the easy ones.

Strengths: I have 6 years work experience in my field of study. I went to school full time while working full time. Was able to maintain a relatively high GPA (High for my major’s classes). My record showed a big jump in academic process (started out REALLY bad years ago, went back to school and started getting straight A’s). I also think my essays were pretty good.

Weaknesses: There are 2 pre-reqs I could have done. I had a really bad start years ago.

So, so, sooooo relieved. I’ve been a wreck all week.

duh, i did not want to post my stats on here. meant to post them on the decision thread. no idea how that happened. sorry.

congratulations peeps!

my “expected graduation” is listed as May 2013. does this mean they are going to accept all my units and set me free in one year? did anyone else get this graduation date? i have 80 transferable units, but only 70 should be able to count toward my degree according to the regs.

what a relief. i am so exhausted from this past month of mad waiting. really sorry for my peeps who were not admitted.

jdom24
congrats and thanks for the updates. very helpful.

accepted, 3.9 gpa… My fin aid doesn’t list Cal A grant, does that mean I am getting full ride?

@anythinggoes1
not sure which school i will SIR to either Cal or UCLA.
SC is also a great school! you will have a blast! and the aid package should be okay. good luck and the UCSC threads have been my fav. congrats!

@economomou:
UC schools use calgrant and blue and gold to cover most of the cost of attendance. if you get calgrant your aid package will remain as it looks now, most likely. that is the benefit of the UC schools. you may need to take out a loan to make up the difference. usually around 8k per year. good luck and a big giant congratulations. (gift aid equals calgrant and blue and gold, or whatever combo comes through).

Thanks Northbeach!

The description says Federal grants & scholarships but none say cal-grant (like it does for UCLA). If I get the cal-grant on top of what they listed I would have 10-12K a year w/ tuition paid. I’ll call their fin aid office on monday. Congrats everyone!

Thanks Northbeach! Congrats to you as well. I’m kind of considering Cal over SD now, but I’m going to have to think it out for a few weeks. Spring admission kind of sucks.

Congrats to all the accepted people! You all deserve it!
