yeah, definitely come up north and attend Cal. it is worth it dude. seriously. it is till numero uno.

Thanks Northbeach!

The description says Federal grants & scholarships but none say cal-grant (like it does for UCLA). If I get the cal-grant on top of what they listed I would have 10-12K a year w/ tuition paid. I’ll call their fin aid office on monday. Congrats everyone!

well, as i said, calgrant will not be Above what they listed as grants and scholarships.

I got into HAAS, I am so happy. Congratulations to all the people admitted to UCB, but if you are not, it is not the end of the world. You just need to keep smiling to life because you don’t know when life will smile you back. Today is our day, but tomorrow will be yours, for sure. good luck.

all chem engg & nuc engg majors, we shud prolly b frnds already

hoping to c most or all of u frm this thread at the orientation who got in…

for my frnds who dint get in, appeal if the decision doesn’t make sense.

To those of you who have been accepted, will you be dorming or will you find an apartment? :)

the good news is, i can just stay home. might take the ferry to school. haha. the good life. after two years of hellish CCC life. okay, it was not that bad, but i SIRed to Cal dudes.

BART goes from San Francisco right to Cal, pretty much, so it is not impossible to live in SF. i don’t care for the east bay. the berkeley hills are nice, and the oakland hills.

I’ll be an SF to Berk commuter. I live in SOMA so the drive is 15 mins, BART is about 20 to 30 mins. I LOVE living in the city and I don’t want to give that up. I’m going to see how the first semester goes and decide what to do then. I was thinking about renting a room to have a place during midterms/finals/etc, but I haven’t checked out rental costs and I’m already depleting my savings by living in SF. I have a feeling the commute won’t be that bad.

wonderful. i love SF. such a cool town dude! created my berkeley.edu email last night. so cool. my current history professor graduated from Cal himself, he is there today. said he would “warn” them that i was coming. haha

Wow, yesterday was a real ride. I’m glad this whole process is over.

I think I’m going to flip a coin for UCSD vs CAL. I keep going back and forth and I don’t think I could really go wrong with either.

Congrat EVERYONE! Go bears!!!

jdom24
just remember that everyone in the world knows about Cal. but frankly, only some americans have heard of UCSD. not that either schools is better, it is just that one is known and the other not so much. good luck dude. i SIRed to Cal! UCLA would have been great too. but i live close to Cal.

@ Northbeach

Thanks man! Well, the whole thing is I’m pre-med/phil. I’ve never heard of anyone asking their doctor what undergrad school they went to, lol. I want to go to UCSF/UCSD/Yale for med school and I don’t really think it will matter if I go to Cal/SD if I get a good GPA/MCAT. I know both are great for research and I would be ecstatic to attend either school. I would just probably have to spend my summers in summer school if I went to Cal since I wouldn’t start 'til spring. I’m going to email my Cal admissions officer and see how this would all work out/if you can get bumped up to Fall if space opens up.

is anyone looking for off campus apt’s? I live in Sac so having a hard time finding cheap housing off campus
the loan they gave me isn’t too grt and I really don’t want to have to pay too much outta pocket… so if anyone knows of good cheap housing (I know right, in Berkeley, but still), I cud use the helpful info

@jdom24
you would be amazed at how helpful it is to have a Cal alumni under your belt. more clients, more good jobs available, shall i go on? it is just branding, i know, but there is a reason people fight tooth and nail to get accepted to these schools. also, the resources are endless. if you have Cal stamped on your record, it will change your life. you only get one chance dude. you may not see those reasons now, but i can guarantee you will later. i just enrolled in summer classes dude! toot toot. good luck.

just wwondering but we didnt need to send official transcripts to ucb prior to admission
right???

@got2have
no, they want transcripts now, i guess. and/or by july 15th.
that reminds me, i need to order a few today.

i just filled out the SLR. that form is messed up, no where to put
the right info in. whatever, i submitted it. i have been here since
the ice age, so it should work out.

YAYYY EVERYoNE! I just made the facebook group for us!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/379251432118797/

GO BEARS!

@ moquacko

thank u! I have been looking for the official fb page for us (I was in on the UCD one) but I couldn’t find one for UCB, so thank you!

Hi guys,

So have any of you guys check your financial aid offer? I was request by some random process to turn in a verification. I checked the FAQ and they said that they will send the forms out that need to be completed after you SIR.

From experience, does anyone know if these forms need to be taken in PERSON directly to their financial aid office? Or can I send them back through the mail?
