I did the where’s Waldo prompt, wrote about how Waldo is actually a character in the schizophrenic mind of a travel agent named Walter.

I chose the arch-nemesis prompt and wrote a love-hate letter for my another self.

I did an arch-nemesis essay and I wrote about my hate filled relationship with pencils.

I chose my own prompt and wrote about Calvin and Hobbes. I have no idea where it came from, but I really tried to throw my personality into it. My personal rule is this: an essay is probably good if you start crying while you’re writing it. (Full disclosure: I am female.)

^Happened to me while I was writing another essay. It was about my mom, so that’s probably why.

lol at the crying part, I don’t think that’s ever happened to me…I’m heartless

As for the essay, I think I bombed it. I took a huge risk and did the optional essay, and even then my essay was so ambiguous–the question ended up being “Describe everything, anything, and nothing”. I just hope it pays off

@paranoia - laughing uncontrollably is probably another good indicator! Or something, at least. Actually, that sounds like a cool prompt. I wish I’d been more creative with mine.

I’m a deferred applicant and my chicago grad SAT teacher told me it is getting extremely hard for deferred applicants to be accepted in RD as Chicago becomes vogue school. I thought the chance for deferred applicant would be similar to RD applicants as 10% of deferred applicants are accepted annually. Anyone has any ideas about this? I’m not sure if he is saying this because I’m an international applicant…

Chose the Where’s Waldo prompt and said that Waldo was actually Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks.

Lol I made my waldo essay into a old time spy movie. Basically, I’m a secret agent and Waldo is a criminal who was finally found and detained but escaped in the form of an essay question thanks to UChicago. I posted it on the “Post Your Essays” thread!

I did the pose your own question AND reused a prompt from another supplement! Hopefully, it’s not bad enough to keep me out, but applying to Chicago was a last-minute decision and I didn’t have time to write another essay. It does show off my intellectual, Chicago-esque side, though.

@ealdi94…My God, that sounds awesome…

Same with yours @ram0276

I am so ashamed of my lack of creativity. I take it back, I shall go cry now…

I just requested for an interview today… would it be too late?
BTW I submitted the wrong common app essay!!! I want to cry now!
Does anyone have the same experience? I already contacted UChicago and other unis that I applied. Hope they would let me change it :(

@shontaya…I did that for Uchicago and the admissions office was so nice about it! Call them!

@ram0276 thank god they just replied…such a horrific experience
i was gonna cry…

^^I just requested an interview yesterday too! I had no idea you had to request one yourself. I really hope I get one.

@CollegeParanoia thank you! I hope it does the job.

created my own prompt too!

I requested an interview and submitted my portfolio last night! Erp. A friend of mine applied EA and said her interviewer was fabulous - she only graduated this past year (!), and they had a great conversation. We live in the same area, so I’m crossing my fingers I get her too. :)

I did the Where’s Waldo and posted it on the essays thread. It’s basically a story about a sock and his adventure in the Land of the (my) Lost Things o.0
