@Edirol trust me that’s crazy, you wouldn’t want to do that. I was in the same situation last year.
@shch7898 - Was traffic a nightmare? Did you end up moving to Irvine eventually?
@Edirol - There is family housing available if needed.
How old are your children (if any)? Depending on the age and their maturity level, you may consider living on campus during the week (and trying to schedule your classes all on 3 or 4 days) and commuting home for the rest. It would be tough - but would be very similar to if you had to travel often for business. Obviously, older children would be more understanding (and may even welcome to "change) versus younger ones.
@Edirol I don’t find such a commute reasonable. That seems like it would be very soul-sucking. You’re looking at 2 about two hours of driving everyday, excluding LA traffic.
But I guess anything is possible with enough drive and determination. If that ends up being your best doable option, then just make the best of it.
If I get rejected from UCLA and Berkeley then I will be attending and commuting to UCI. I’m fortunate that I live a mere 8.5 miles from UCI. It’s simply a matter of me driving past two cross-streets and merging onto the 405 South. It takes me about 15 minutes to get there.
@Cheolf - I really want to attend UCI but if I get into UCLA then it would save me so much time (and gas money!)
I got into CSULB which isn’t terribly close to my home either, but it is closer than Irvine.
@Eterion - My children are in elementary school and we wouldn’t qualify for family housing, but even if we did, I simply could not go a few nights without them. If it comes down to it, I will spend hours in traffic if it means being home in time for dinner and able to read them a story before bed.
I knew going back to school at my age would be difficult, so I’m prepared to do whatever necessary. Fingers crossed for UCLA
@Edirol it was the traffic, just exhausting
@cupcake925 I’ll be an applicant this fall, but my husband is an applicant for this year. We’ve got three kiddos
I think my friend heard back today
I just don’t get why they are not releasing yet today…you would think if they were someone left on this thread would have heard back one way or the other…they have to know that people are having anxiety attacks…its like ripping the bandied off slowly…
Sadistic for sure…
Quick question … UCSB/COMM or UCI/LIT JOURN ?? … My hope is to become a sports journalist. Thank you and goodluck to those waiting.

@E2DuhJ I applied to the nursing program as well! Just wondering, how hard is biochem because I need to take that during the summer. My CC doesn’t offer it so it’s one of the 3 classes I need to take over the summer.
@mmmwww biochemical is pretty hard. Which CC do you go to?
*biochem
@shch7898 PCC
@mmmwww I also applied for nursing, and i’m planning to take biochem this summer at UCI! I’ve been searching for some community colleges that offer biochem, but i can’t find any colleges that offer it during the summer besides UCI. Where are you gonna take it and what other 3 classes do you have to take? Also, did you get an email from the nursing counselor saying that they’re currently reviewing our applications and that we can register for summer classes?
@squamous That’s awesome! I hope we both get in then! Yeah I don’t really have a choice since my school doesn’t offer three of the courses I need. Or at least they’re not equivalent to what UCI wants. I would need to take biochem, genetics, and public health at UCI during the summer so that’s going to be stressful. Is biochem the only class you’re taking? And no, was that recent? Now I’m worried
got accepted today. Major Psychology 3.8 gpa pre reqs and IGETC done.
also accepted to UCR still waiting on UCLA and UCSD
