Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

I didnt mean you Grinch, I meant the person who said they got accepted today. Its always fishy to me when someone only posts they got accepted and has no previous post history

Edit: I guess I was right, it was a t-roll lol

I think you are funny grinch, but what I’m seeing is page after page of mostly off topic chatting. That means when people want to go back to check on what has been happening over the last day or so they have to go through a ton of pages of chit chatting to get to the stuff they want to see. It’s not only you, but I just see a lack of courtesy or consideration for others going on and am saying something about it. It’s also comments about race, comments about schools being not good enough, etc and for one thing a lot of those central valley schools are very good at specific subject matter like agriculture for example, like all schools each have their strong points and weak points. I have a sense of humor believe it or not, I really enjoy laughing and I think you are a funny person, just please stop spamming.

hey @grinchmeup off topic but do you go to UCR or are transferring there? In case I dont get accepted to UCI or UCLA (most likely wont LOL). Might commute there from Whittier, still not completely sure yet because of the drive! Anyways, my main question is do you commute from an hour away as well and if so is it worth it or should i just move out there? lol Trying to only go twice a week because of the drive!

@chelsterzzz I currently go to UCR (got into UCSB so far though so I might be transferring) and I chose to live in Riverside even though I’m from Chino Hills. UCR doesn’t really offer good schedules for commuters. Most students, commuters or not, have class M-F at random times. The best scheduling you can usually do is cram all lectures on Tuedays and Thursdays and fill your Wednesday’s with discussion sections, but office hours are all over the place so you’ll probably just end up crashing at friends apartments throughout the week. Riverisde is super cheap and has a great social life too!

Hi fellow community college students, who are nervously and ancienciously waiting to hear from UCI. I don’t have any news but I do feel the, what-the-f-is-taking-so-long-for-UCI-to-notify-us-mere-mortals-I-have-shit-to-do, pain. My kid’s childcare packet needs to be done for her summer care and I need to work out where she will be attending elementary in fall but I can’t do that until UCI gives me an accepted or rejected notice. I have to give them a down payment. It’s effecting our opportunities when they make us wait this long. I also agree that it feels sidistict but at the same time I know they could just be making sure they’ve gone through all the candidates with a fine tooth comb. Hang in there.

I just want to point out that College Confidencial has this thing where we can choose to start our own topic discussions. So if you were already accepted CONGRATULATIONS, we are all happy for you. You get to finish your SIR’s and are free from worry of rejection, yay!!!

These off topic discussions that have nothing to do with UCI and are banters going back and forth from other non nervous transfer students, who are already accepted, needs to conversate elsewhere.

Please have some consideration. Understand that nobody else who have been checking this specifically titled discussion cares for off topic conversations.

Thank you!!! Goodbye and best of luck to you.

Decisions today? Also, is someone going to set up one of those decision threads like some of the other UCs have? That might be easier to sort through for future generations.

@grinchmeup I think a separate thread for final decisions is good enough for now, tbh. I’ll do it if no one else is willing to.

@yourHIGHne55

You should have planned accordingly. They have until April 30th to notify you. Your problems are not their problems.

@yourHIGHne55 Listen, I understand that logging into CC and seeing that the UCI thread is lit up is misleading. Your heart races a little and you open up another tab hoping to see some sort of admissions decision on the UCI website while CC loads. Then you get disappointed when you realize the thread is active because people are conversing about non-UCI things. However, that does not warrant a policing from someone who is not an authority on this website. The title of this thread is “Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread.” It does not specifically say “Transfer Decision Thread.” Also, please note that this is a discussion board, where other students who are currently “pending” can talk to one another while they wait for some type of official confirmation or denial. I get that this is a stressful time for everyone, but please refrain from attempting to manage the thread as though you are a moderator. Thank you.

@100789 Why are you pulling me into this? I have already transferred, lol.

@UCLAFFF I will edit you out. Also, it seems @grinchmeup was banned again.

So, here’s the thing… I apologize if it came off that way. My “responsibilities” have to do with things that are out of my control and that you could not imagine, which I have saved you all the trouble of knowing because I’ve been respectful in this topic thread. I’m asking for you to do the same.

Best of luck to you all!

@yourHIGHne55 We all have responsibilities that we don’t advertise. I have things that I have to be responsible for that you couldn’t imagine. Yet, we were just conversing on a discussion thread, which is allowed. Not one of us were sharing anything personal, nor are we doing much except for chattering. I promise you that the conversations typically stop once decisions come out because everyone is more focused on their acceptance/decline than on other topics. Please just be patient and wait it out with the rest of us. There are other students who are also dealing with stressful life events, such as myself, who don’t mind the conversations as long as they’re not poking fun at other schools or saying anything harmful.

Hii, I just wanted to post my stats and see my chances

GPA: 3.61
TAG: nope
Major: Chemistry B.S.
Prerequirements: I did the bare minimum (gen chem & calc 1-2) BUT I am taking calc. 3 right now.
IGETC: Will finish in the summer (I have 2 left after spring)

Woo, major changed already. Anyone going to the UCI reception near them?

@hellomynameisL I’m not an official evaluation person or anything, but your GPA is strong. I don’t know if completion of IGETC is a requirement for chemistry and/or UCI admission. I would double check on that to make sure they’d accept summer courses for finishing the IGETC.

@100789 For STEM Majors, I know UC’s aren’t so strict on finishing their IGETC because they have so much science’s to complete. So I’m sure that they are lenient on that. But I kind of BS’d my UC essay. So hopefully that will not affect my decision

@hellomynameisL Okay, that’s good. With your essay, unless you only wrote “Let me in, please,” I’m sure it won’t hurt your chances. You have a good GPA.

Alright thanks  @100789 And it doesn’t matter that I didn’t complete the recommended requirements?

@hellomynameisL I think it depends on how UCI does selections to be honest. I think, because they used the word “recommended,” that it isn’t going to be vital to your admission. However, I’m not someone who has an official say-so, lol.
