@pate054 I will say that they will release a few more decisions slowly throughout the week. Give out waitlists on thursday and rejections on Friday. I hope they come out soon though. I can’t wait any longer
Admitted
Major: Chemical Engineering
GPA: 3.54
EC: Meh, made it look fancier than it probably was lol
PS: I’m a disabled vet, so I made it super heart wrenching. idk if that helped me or not.
IGETC: complete this semester (including all physics + MATLAB)
Accepted: UCSD (Undeclared), UCI
Rejected: UCSB, UCD
Waiting: UCB
Will choose Berkeley hands down if I am admitted, as small a chance as that is. Obviously declining UCSD, I’m not going anywhere without a guaranteed major. I was reading into it too and you only get one shot at declaring ChemE or NanoE, and that’s after basically a year of classes. After that you’re basically screwed. I can’t imagine the stress.
@cyan96 I’m not sure, I don’t think it means were rejected or waitlisted just yet I believe we still have a shot. I got into Davis already, but I’d much rather go to Irvine it’s just so much closer to me
Accepted! (only posting to help future transfers :)) (CCC transfer)
Major: Pharmaceutical Sciences
GPA: 3.72 when I applied, 3.67 after TAU
Major prereqs: finished gen bio and gen chem by spring '16
TAG: yes
IGETC: yes
Essays: honestly thought it was 6/10 but people read them over and said they were good
EC: volunteers weekly at a youth group program at a church and had 2 jobs
Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCSB, UCI (tag), UCD, UCSD
Accepted: UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCD
Rej: UCLA
anyone else here a pharmsci major?
Ugh. Accepted to UCR, UCLA, UCSD. Heard nothing from UCI. Those other UCs are so far away.
@idk107 did they let you know today?? I also applied for pharmsci but I haven’t heard back. I don’t think I got in.
@MicrobioGrl I actually got in the first day decisions were released because I TAG’d, I’m sure they’ll reply to you soon! have hope
Anyone know why there are like barely any Econ students getting accepted?
@kzalk3 quant. econ here, still pending
I know plenty of people commuting from corona, chino hills, Redlands, etc, but if you’re interning/working and doing anything on campus, it can get kind of hard commuting everyday. The commuters I know have been doing it since freshman year, but they finally gave in and moved out here because they were just jumping from couch to couch during the week. But if you don’t care about being active on campus then you can commute and work it out! As for why I’m leaving UCR, it’s because I feel like I’ve maxed out my opportunities here. In 2 years I’ve joined a great business fraternity, been an ambassador for the chancellor, worked in my honor society, and done some really great internships all while keeping my grades high, and i feel like I need another challenger. It’s also because a lot of my friends are graduating this quarter and I want to meet some new people. the research opportunities are pretty great at other schools too!
Still waiting for next week…one way or the other…waitlist, rejection or even an acceptance…
Yep same here. I’ll probably get a rejection
Business Economics here just accepted yesterday!
@kamiture who did you contact for your change of major? I got admitted to UCSD for Electrical but I wanted Computer Engineering. Just hoping you can give me some advice on the process
Well, I did this on UCIs Message Center. It’s a literal selection through the inbox: change major from x to y.
I forgot how UCSDs admission portal looks like but their should be somewhere there to mention a change or a contact information to get to someone.
Also, make sure you meet the requirements, I went from either ICS or SOE to L&S, much easier than changing within engineering or in reverse.
Congrats to everyone who got in! Hopefully those who are still waiting will here back soon.
I’m in a pickle because now I need to pick between going to UCI and saving a bunch of money, or going to UCLA and probably getting into a better program at the expense of losing all my savings and taking out loans
@kamiture Oh right I forgot UCI had that type of thing. Thanks!
Got accepted yesterday, but turned UCI down already because I’ll be attending UCLA! Hopefully if someone gets waitlisted, it might change into an acceptance
major: pol sci
gpa: 3.72 (somewhere around there)
tag: no
igetc: complete after this spring
pre-reqs: complete after this spring
best of luck to those still waiting!
How did some of you guys do a change of major? I want to switch mine from regular psych to PSB.
I hear you can do it through the portal. I’ve made a thread for those of us admitted where hopefully we can get a collaboration of useful info for transferring into a great first quarter at UCI.
