Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

Good morning my fellow UCI hopefuls! So, if history repeats itself there will be some acceptances sent out this afternoon. Last year’s thread had a batch come through late in the afternoon on 04-28. None were from the engineering department sadly, but I remain in a positive frame of mind.

And only 2 of the 60 actually enrolled. It appears that Irvine has made the decision that they don’t want transfer students in business, and they assure that result by only admitting those with such sterling credentials that they will go to other schools like Haas.

Quite different from the standards for freshman business students, whose SAT scores are not terribly high.

i haven’t gotten my decision yet either. poli sci major, and my last name starts with an A. either i’m a reject or there’s really no order to admission decision release.

Ive pretty much lost hope. Especially now that I heard the UC’s were audited for accepting too many out of state applicants because they can charge 3x the tuition. The sad thing is California residents pay for the UC’s and CCC’s from taxes and we receive no preference.
The saddest thing is students are going to receive a generic rejection. Instead of being upfront and explaining the true reasons.

I’m sure all of those out of state applicants with horrible GPA had REALLY good application essays…(that was a joke).

Im assuming today and tomorrow everyone should get their answer one way or another…well that is if they don’t extend it. My son is still waiting for CS as well by the way…Actually computer science/gaming. Last year there were only like 130 transfers for that major, they accepted something like 45 but only like 24 chose it as their choice…but we all know how fickle the UCs are there is no rhyme or reason for a lot of the stuff they do durning the admission process…this is the only college that he applied to…next year he will apply to the other 2 that offer the same major…he wanted to live closer to home traveling wise and where it was not so stupid cold

Good luck everyone as we all sit and wait and wait and wait!

@RichardEmt34 …so true…not just out of state but a lot more international students as well…they also extended admissions out longer at UCI to get more applicants…making a whole lot more students to pick from…higher GPAs as well…I would get it if this were a private college but it is a public college put together for Calif. students…yet it is becoming more and more to look like many that go to CC and TAG a college not really getting their TAG granted…well unless you are above that 3.4 WAY ABOVE. HOWEVER, with all that said…they had a lot of admissions so they can really only take so many.

When my son went up to UCI they told him with his grades and how UCI prides itself on taking almost all its Transfer students and for him not to worry turned out to be well…Sitting here waiting… if he does not get in it is not the end all be all…hes got this…and so do all of you

For what it’s worth, the report (which was supposedly direct from UCI) as of this morning is there are still more admissions decisions forthcoming, so don’t give up hope quite yet. All the later admissions decisions mean is that you are still on the table and they are laboring over whether or not you get an acceptance, waitlist, or rejection. Just because you haven’t heard back yet doesn’t mean it’s over, it just means they still have some tough decisions to make. I truly believe that this is why UCI doesn’t release rejections until the last day, because until each and every space has been filled you are still being considered for acceptance.

where did you read this report

@Blink5 I spoke with my CC’s admissions rep this morning. Please take it with a grain of salt, but I truly believe if all spots were filled sending out a mass rejection email would be a pretty simple task for the school to execute. Obviously not all of us left here without a decision are going to get in, but the odds are some of us will.

@uisforutah They could be deciding who to waitlist and who to reject, how do we know more acceptances are coming?

@chs2014 Just have to be hopeful.

has uci always been releasing/making decisions on a rolling basis? this wait is giving me more anxiety than the D day we went through last friday for the other UCs lol…

@rollcake Looking at the posts. It just seems to be admissions by departments. Not every day there’s admission though.

anyone UC -UC transfer here back yet?

Anyone else planning on joining transfer edge? Chem major here, and I totally am… provided berkeley/stanford/harvard dont come back with full ride/near full ride offers…

I think its irresponsible and in poor taste that UCI cannot inform its applicants of their decisions within a reasonable time. Who do they think they are? Berkeley? Oh wait, UCB the flagship branch of the UC System managed to inform everyone LAST week.

UCI Flag ban controversy last year (it became so heated that certain HR departments mentioned they would overlook any resumes from candidates listing UCI as their source of degree) - http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-american-flag–ban-uc-irvine-20150306-story.html

*Talking myself down from anxiety over waiting for UCI decision by pointing out all their flaws and why I shouldn’t put so much weight on a UCI acceptance/denial.

Time for the daily routine.

Check at 3:01 PM. Nothing.

“UCB the flagship branch of the UC System managed to inform everyone LAST week.”

UCB hasn’t even released transfer decisions yet, you sound dumb. There are a lot of people waiting, not just for UCI but UCLA as well. So, I guess we should start calling UCLA out for its flaws, as well?

Get over yourself.

@UCLAFFF Two of my friends received admissions offers from UCB, sorry you’ve been informed or led to believe otherwise.

@Eterion Berkeley doesn’t release until tomorrow…

And UCI (just like UCR) have stated it’s rolling admissions until a certain date. All admission decisions will be out by April 30. They made that clear when we all applied. They give us more than enough time to decide if we want to SIR.
