Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

Hey guys! I’m an OOS Transfer Applicant, and I still haven’t heard back from them. I was wondering, do OOS Transfer Applicants get Waitlisted ever? Or is it just an acceptance or rejection? Please let me know! I’m freaking out.

Junior Transfer Applicant:

Major: Psychology

GPA: 3.63 (Was 3.84 when I first submitted my application)

Pre-reqs: missing one computer science course.

Essay: Pretty strong in my opinion. I may be pretty biased though because I wrote it.

Extracurriculars: I do a lot of volunteering and have junior youth groups. I always am doing service projects with the junior youth in my group.

@omarito Here’s hoping… only another month of waiting.

@lugi350 thanks for the info. i know in the appeal it says to let them know stuff you didnt include in the regular app. i’m not sure if i should submit one since i already let them know about my sickness and hospitalization, etc etc. it sounds like some people were admitted despite submitting their appeal late, it may be due to just being accepted through waitlist. we’ll never know for sure, argh. i’m not sure if i should SIR to other schools or wait for the waitlist. is there a safe way to do both? if i submit SIR and change my mind is that okay?

@isaypwnsj00 They want you to SIR to other schools. They make it clear on waitlist offers. (Atleast UCD did.) Just accept the offers and if the waitlist accepts you, you can remove the SIR.

@isaypwnsj00 yeah it would have been nice for people who got wait listed to post what happened. Some of them never posted again and didn’t mention if they got rejected or not.

@uctransfer16 oh i see. when i tried to SIR for UCR it says “You may only submit one Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to a University of California (UC) Campus.” so this is just saying, only one at a time correct? if say, for example i do get into UCI, i would have to remove my SIR from UCR first before doing the SIR to UCI. no conflict if this happens right?

still nothing…

@isaypwnsj00 May have to call admissions. Here’s the message from UCD:

“We understand that you may need to respond to admission offers from other colleges by June 1, and strongly recommend that you accept one of those offers. If we are able to offer you admission and UC Davis is your top choice, you can cancel your acceptance at the other college and enroll at our campus. Please visit our website to learn more about the waitlist process.”

Did any UC to UC transfers get waitlisted ???

@bnnunez no decision yet so expecting rejection

@Blink5 nothing here either

Anyone know stats of waitlist acceptance last year? Seems like 2014 was 80% 2013 1% and 2012 100%.

I got waitlisted for cs major at around 3pm.

I really hope they honor that tradition of giving priority to CC transfer applicants.

I’m killing time by watching the UCB thread. Making a mental note of all the people who got accepted to UCB, who also listed that they were accepted by UCI… particularly the ones in my major, since that would mean another open spot in UCI’s pool.

@bnnunez I’m from UCR and I got waitlisted today for business economics.

Does anyone know when UCI releases transfer waitlist decisions? I’ve been hearing things ranging from May all the way till July, which i’m highly skeptical about.

Wait listed, literally 15 seconds ago. Lol.

Major: Electrical Engineering
UC GPA: 3.8ish
IGETC: Complete
Prereq’s: Complete
EC’s: Two academic awards (one state, one national), thousands of volunteer hours w/ Habitat for Humanity, Phi Theta Kappa board position held for one year
PS: 7/10. If you ask me, it was rubbish, but I hate writing about myself, so it is what it is.
Accepted: UCSD
Waitlisted: UCI
Rejected: UCLA, UCR

The drama continues. Dun, dun, dun. At least that means another month with you fine folks. I consider it a blessing and a privilege.

Hello everyone! I’ve never posted on this thread but I’ve been keeping up with it. Everyone’s inputs have been helpful but I’m super anxious now because I still haven’t gotten any message from UCI :frowning: Seems like all the waitlists came out today…

You can still appeal a rejection guys. Doesn’t hurt to try.

I got waitlisted. If I appeal, will that take me off the waitlist?
I will be calling admissions on Monday. I signed my TAG and don’t understand why it was nullified.

@BIMguy Waitlists take priority over appeals. But in your circumstance, calling asap (monday) is highly recommended.
