UCI Admissions message “Thank you for applying to the University of California, Irvine. Due to limited capacity for transfer students, we are not currently able to offer you admission for fall 2016.
However, your application is strong and as a result, we want to provide you the opportunity to be included on a transfer student waitlist for UCI.”
FYI to people who got wait listed. Last year’s thread wait listed people submitted a petition(which I’m still researching and I don’t know yet how to submit one), and some of them got admitted, so I don’t think it will hurt to submit a petition.
@lugi350 what petition? i know you’re researching it but i would like to know of this as well. quick google search doesn’t really turn up anything about waitlisting admissions, only waitlisting classes (meaning you’re already a student there)
@ctehin showed up on the first page after logging in. the boxes turned green for me - waitlist decision. i know for a real admission it says like congratulations or something, big letters.
Waitlisted
Waitlisted sometime between 2:30 and 3:10. I’m really sad because UCI is my top choice. I almost wish they would of just rejected me instead of giving me hope. Either way I already submitted my SIR to Cal Poly SLO for ee. Will be accepting waitlist offer.
Major: Electrical Engineering
UC-Transferable GPA: 3.2-ish
IGETC: complete
Prereq’s: Everything
EC’s: Really good. President of STEM Club, two NASA internships, honors society, and a bunch of other stuff.
PS: Pretty good, had a lot of insight and editing from people. Would rate 8/10
Accepted: SDSU, CSUN, CSULB, Cal Poly SLO, UCSB
Waitlisted: UCI, UCD, UCSD
Rejected: UCLA
Pending: UCSC
I just called UCI and talked to a helpful representative. The person said that there is one waitlist pool and everyone on it is not ranked in order of preference. By June they will have received notice from students who decline to attend UCI and they will be able to tell how many spots are available. Then they notify people on the waitlist that they are accepted. Some years they accept everyone off the waitlist (I hope this year too!), and some years, just a percentage of the waitlist. So now we wait…again…
