my appeal is still in review, does anyone know why they are holding our appeal for so long? when they are going to give out their decisions?

@rafa1994 - Waitlisted students are students that are just as competitive as those who were admitted, but one or two things made them miss a few points and thus didn’t qualify them entirely to be admitted on the spot. Students who are appealing are those who were rejected, meaning they were not considered competitive enough to make it to the waitlist, or to be accepted.

In layman’s terms, appeals are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and the probability of the decision being overturned is nearly impossible.

I know this is stupid lol but where do I check my appeal decisions?
cuz the portal in which I sent my appeal in doesn’t work haha

EDIT: nvm!! found it… mine’s still in review

my appeal is still in review, does anyone know why they are holding our appeal for so long? when they are going to give out their decisions?

for anyone that has had their appeal decided, did they send you an email telling you to check your decision website? or did you just go to the website without an email tell you to do so?

The appeals site says that the page will be updated accordingly. My best guess is that you should just check the page everyday since not all waitlisted info has been out yet.

You guys so we can only submit the appeal letter? Can we send any addition documents like proof of health condition?

they don’t accept anything else but what is in your appeal letter. I’m sure they’d believe you if you said you had a specific health condition.

you guys can have my spot lol. good luck.

Why thank you. lol. where are you going instead?

Does anyone know how many people are appealing?

@Conan419 - No, we did not receive an email telling us a decision had been made. We simply kept checking the appeal website every day. I would guess that since many of you haven’t received decisions yet, that may be a good thing. Perhaps the appeals they knew they wanted to deny (like ours) were done immediately, and the ones they are on the fence about were put off. So good luck to you all, you still have a chance!

I think WAITLISTED students may also be the reason appeals were put off. A lot of students that were accepted off the waitlist knew that they were accepted before those who were rejected. I believe the deadline for the waitlisters is 3 days. Once those are completely done, appeals might be the next thing they tackle. At the very least, know that we’ll probably be on the fence until the end of May, early June.

There’s 2,900 students on the waitlist. I doubt acceptances will trickle down to most of the students on the waitlist, and they probably won’t make it to appeals at all since UCLA is a pretty popular school.

wait, let me get this straight…
youre saying that appeals wont even be considered for admission until theyre done with the waitlist?

^I’m just going with seresteiras’s asssumption that that is the case. Has anyone actually called UCLA to ask if waitlisted students get priority? I know it’s like that for other UC schools but since this is the first time UCLA has had a waitlist…

Do consider that waitlisted students have been considered more competitive than those who were rejected (and are planning to appeal). I personally see it that we’re giving the admissions more trouble with our appeals because they are NOT required at all to accept anyone from the appeals if that’s what it comes down to. They are, however, required to look into our applications again and consider a final decision.

@rafa1994 - They’re probably doing waitlists and appeals simultaneously since waitlisted students also get a second review. However, priority will be given to waitlisted students for obvious reasons more so than appeals.

I called the admissions office today to ask if they knew an approximate date appeals would be released since not all were, and the lady asked me for my info and said ‘a decision should have been given to you on May 1st.’ I told her the decision site still says my appeal is under review, and she put me on hold for a long time and came back saying she’ll make sure my decision will be posted by the end of this week… crossing my fingers!

thank you fournine, for the hope.

Let’s cross our fingers!
