<p>yep, guess i am still sneaking back over to this forum to check up on the santa cruz peeps. just wondering if you guys now say “go slugs!”? we say “go bears!” but i don’t even know that that means… and let me get this straight. UCLA and UCB have the same mascot with different names? or is that something that no one wants to talk about? haha</p>
<p>hope you are all doing great! any summer school plans? i am enrolled, hope someone will pay the tuition.</p>
<p>^We’ve been doing that (somewhat) on the UCSC facebook page. UCLA and UCB are unoriginal…slight spin-offs of a bear…HA! :)</p>
<p>Hope you’re doing well too! No summer plans here, mainly because there is nothing offered around here and Summer plans are up in the air, at the moment. You going to take them at the UC? Sorry it took so long to respond…the past few weeks have been hell!</p>

yeah, i am taking summer classes at UCB. they will cover tuition and give me subsidized loans for living if i need them—so relieved. the update on the PELL grants for summer are this: congress just passed a law that revoked our ability to get the extra PELL grant for summer. L<em>O</em>S<em>E</em>R*S can you believe those bozos? sheesh. </p>
<p>seems UCB had the Bear first because it is the first UC in the school system. then UCLA did in fact knock off the bear on purpose, and a variation on the UCB colors because i believe it was the second UC school in the system. </p>
<p>Now Banana Slugs are original. </p>
<p>i am really looking forward to starting school this summer. spent some time on campus and it is fantastico. are you guys going on vacations this summer? next year we should all study abroad in france or italy for our summer semesters.</p>
<p>@North: I received the financial aid restriction thing today too. It’s ridiculous. Yeah because Cal was first so they get the OG bear. LA was the second so they had to make up some other kind of bear. LOL</p>

yeah! can you believe that? i am not that young myself, but frankly those old stupid congresspeople should be boiled in oil. sheesh. i was just flabbergasted when i heard my pell grant was no longer available for summer. thank goodness UCB made up the difference, but what about the rest of the kids in this country? man, politicians are lame. if young people can’t get jobs it is just logical to keep them in school. duh!</p>
