I got in
though, UNC is my first choice, it’s a relief that I know I’ll have somewhere to go next year that I’ll love!

anyone get foundation fellows? go tebow :)

^
Colt McCoy got the Foundation Fellowship. He got his application in one second before the deadline.
Joking of course. He will be too busy polishing his Heisman Trophy to be a Foundation Fellow.

For the rest of us : I think those notifications come out in late January but I’m not sure. I read somewhere that they cut the # of awards this year because of the economy.

@dwtisdale- I’m in TX. Prefer the anonymity of my screen name. We sure did apply to all the same schools.

I’m curious about criteria for OOS tuition waivers as well and when they let you know about that and any other scholarships.

@ mollymauk. My second choice school is Texas, so I’ll be fine if McCoy gets it! thanks for the fellows info. i was hoping for a sooner date…but oh well!

To me, it looks like the only non-need- based tuition waiver outside of the Foundation/Ramsey competition would be the Charter Scholarship. Old CC posts show people getting them in Jan-Feb.

They must be very stat dependent because UGA admissions has no info on us except our transcripts, SAT/ACT scores and Mother’s maiden name.

And here’s the link to an article including how the FF was awarded to half as many people last year because of the recession. Hopefully their investments are doing better now.

I got ACCPEPTED to UGA under Early Action. I found out yesterday. You can check too by going to the Application Status Check. Here’s the link https://www.admissions.uga.edu/apps/status/index.html.

Fireworks! from NC. Congratulations everyone!

We were invited to UGA several weeks ago for an honors day to learn more about their program. If I remember correctly, there were only 13 FF scholars! Hopefully, UGA will reward some scholarships for honors students who are not FFs. There are some really awesome kids who may choose not to apply to FF, but have much to bring to the table!

HOUSING FOR PROSPECTIVE HONORS STUDENTS?

Now that our son was accepted to UGA and has to apply to housing, not sure what to do regarding honors dorm. Not sure son wants to live in honors dorm, but if he decides he’d like to, he won’t know about whether or not he makes it into honors until later, right? hmm…what to do?

Accepted - 31 ACT, 3.8 UW, OOS, 720 SAT US History, 720 SAT Literature.

Yay! I wish I could find out about the scholarships now too.

I got in.

Question for you all: I was also accepted to Georgia Tech early, so which college might be a better choice if Im hoping to attend medical school? And to make the question even more difficult, lets say I was accepted to UGA honors then where do I go?

Thank you all and Good Luck (and if you are not accepted, then its not the end of the world. Im sure you will get accepted somewere elce. I promise! LOL)

feedback- We learned at our visit that once you are accepted for admision, you can send in a housing request form with only $35, to get on the list early. Myers Hall is not exclusively for Honors, as you said, but being in Honors helps your chances. The are other nice dorms in the Myers Community (Soule, Rutherford) depending on gender. Hill Community is also nice. Most people would probably prefer to avoid the high rises (Creswell, Russell & Brumby), although others don’t seem to mind them. Reed community is nice and suite-style, but removed from the dining halls. Bottom line: check out the housing web site and get your deposit in quickly. Oh, and I think you can list 3 choices in order.

futuredoc: Some feel GT can make med school admissions tough because they grade harder, possibly lowering your GPA. Find the med school admissions rates for both schools and compare. UGA has excellent science departments and tons of undergrad research opportunities through CURO. If you get UGA Honors, you won’t be disappointed. Did you know they are just about to open a branch of the Medical College of Georgia in Athens? They’re going to need future docs, futuredoc!

thank you, merkur! we will do that right away.
