@CoramDeo7 @dyisdy my son is on the waitlist and we are also from SF Bay Area.
@dyisdy @CoramDeo7 @unnamedgal10023 Same, I’m from SF Bay Area and wait listed as well.
Has anyone got off the waitlist today yet? Historically, based on past threads (not really sure though), there happened to be quite a lot of people getting off on Fridays typically (this might just be a year to year thing though).
Do any international applicants know where to send the letter of interest to or what to include?
@lin110364 You need to send the email to the international admissions counselor, I guess you can find his email id either in your waitlist offer, your application portal, or even on the UChicago website. As for what to include, it must basically say that you’re keen to be admitted to the college, and you can add some details regarding why you would be a good fit to the institution.
@blazedragon Thank you!
Hello guys,
I got waitlisted and I sent an email to my regional admissions counselor about my interests, but I have not heard back in a month. Should I send another email or should I just wait? Also, what would happen if I sent a 2nd reply to stay on the waitlist on my U Chicago portal? To the people that got off of the waiting, congratulations!! I hope to see you soon at U Chicago
Did anyone from the Middle East/North Africa get a place off the waiting list?
@Techman24
I sent a 2nd email to my regional rep and got a reply soon after that.
I don’t think it could hurt.
i sent mine a little while back as well but haven’t gotten a response…and i don’t have any new updates for a second email either… :-?
@almosttheremulan @jpa0115 Which regions do you guys live in and who are your regional officers if you guys don’t mind me asking?
No problem…
My region is S/SE and my counselor is Marjie Betley
So I just sent an email to James Nondorf, who is the lead admissions director, and he told me that for those who are waitlisted for Florida, Will Herald is sick. If in any case, here is his email to send your LOCI: jnondorf@uchicago.
Called him, and he said everything is ok and shall be added into file. (:
Has anyone else got off the waitlist yet? If so, when and where? Thanks!
I am waitlisted at Uchicago, which remains my first choice by far but have got into several more competitive schools including ivy league schools, all with huge amounts of financial aid and merit scholarships. Should I mention my acceptances to those other schools? Obviously I would want to go to Uchicago over all of those, so should I say that even though I have those acceptances I want to give them up to attend Uchicago?
qwerty - If it’s communicated in the proper spirit, I think it could help to mention the other schools. It is another way of expressing how much you want UChicago and how you think you are the right fit despite how other people might be pushing you to go to these other schools you got in to. Good luck to you.
Well does mentioning increase in EFC helps to get off the waitlist for international students? I am planning to state double of what I had stated in ISFAA. Will it help?
@bigyan My guess is that there are enough people on the waitlist who have already indicated that they are willing to be full pay, so changing your EFC, will not itself sway the decision one way or the other. There would need to be something in your application that the University likes among the rest of the pool.
Any Waitlist Decisions? or are they now probably gonna come in mid may?
So i heard that UChicago usually tries to send decisions before May 1st (especially if you send them a first choice letter) so students don’t waste money on a deposit to another school. Some of my friends at my school have already heard back and gotten off the waitlist.
The thing is, I sent them a continued interest letter a while back right after I was waitlisted but I didn’t say UChic was my first choice. If I send a first choice letter now do you think that they’ll get back to me before May 1st?
