@prosquad1 @3idek3 are you both in the same area or have the same admissions officer?
@ggindian98 I am from Iowa! I’m not sure which area @3idek3 belongs to!
I really hope we figure out before May 1st I don’t want to waste $900 for another housing deposit somewhere else
@prosquad1 I’m from MN ! Was your admissions officer Maura ?
According to the admissions contact page, IA and MN are covered by the same officer, so that may explain why you received the same response.
Does anyone know if wait listed applicants who have requested FA have an disadvantage in the waitlist? I know that WashU dis favors wait listed people who need FA (but don’t think so for regular RD).
need blind for citizens, usually. but if they used up all the financial aid money available already to other students, it may be disadvantageous
Has anyone else gotten off the waitlist ?
For those on the waitlist, a request for financial aid can be slightly disadvantageous, (much more disadvantageous for international students like me who need a lot of aid), but if the university really wants to take you in, they’ll still be willing to spend their resources on you, so don’t lose hope.
@blessuphey
@kenzielouwho It is hard to predict, as only about 2% of the waitlisted candidates are active on this thread (a generous estimate, haven’t really checked
), and from them too, very few would be selected, so even if overall someone might have gotten off the waitlist today, we may still not know.
Do you guys think they have a set day to inform people who are off the waitlist? The only people on this thread who are in got the call last Tuesday, and according to last year’s waitlist thread a lot of people got notified on Fridays. I wonder if this is true, but I kind of hope it isn’t, because I don’t want to be disappointed once per week lol.
it sounds like they do have some kind of set day for notifying WLers, which i imagine happens after a big meeting or something…too early to tell but last year, it was definitely friday?
My son was fortunate enough to be admitted off the wait list today.
congratulations to your S @calvert !!! can you let us know what region and how it all came about? did you S send in a letter early?
@calvert also when and how did he send it (snail mail, email, etc) and did it update them on accomplishments or simply continued interest? thanks!
Sent an email immediately - not super detailed. He was notified by phone. My understanding is that they intend to make as many decisions as possible regarding the wait list prior to May 1 so people aren’t losing deposits. Fingers crossed for everyone else!
@calvert what time was he notified ? Thank you so much for answering questions and congrats! I really hope they let everyone know before May 1st that’s really considerate of UChicago!
Has anyone from New York (not Stuyvesant HS) gotten off the waitlist yet? Also do you guys know if anyone ever gets off the waitlist without a first choice letter? (maybe a continued interest letter, but not necessarily committing to going?)
is there anyone from california gotten off the waitlist? especially from the SF bay area?
Why the exception of Stuyvesant HS? Just curious…
@dyisdy we are also from the SF Bay Area and my son is still on the waitlist.
