@blazedragon Got rejected too. Do you have some info about the transferring, how does it work and how transfer friendly they are. I am in pre med sort of and want to pursue that

I will surely try my best to apply for a transfer or at least for graduate school, and improve my application when I do so. I understand that maybe this time it wasn’t possible, but there’s only so much that can happen to stop me from going to the United States for my college education. 
Hoping that your daughter got admitted to a good college though, if not to the U Chicago. I wish her best of luck for her future endeavors too.
@playcool I haven’t really checked much about their transfer student guidelines, but I think they are relatively okay, at least better than schools like Princeton, who as of now do not accept transfer students at all. But at the same time, very few schools provide aid to transfer students, so I would have to research on whether U Chicago provides aid or not, and if not, then what scholarships I can apply for. As of now, I am trying to concentrate on getting admitted to a good college here, and then plan on a transfer from there.
I received no email. Does that mean that I survived this round?

@blazedragon OMG I’m an international student from India asking for alotta aid with like an ok SAT score. And ya ugh I got wait listed and rejected from so many places but finally got into Drexel. Ik it’s crazy tough for intl students asking for aid. Why don’t u try colleges with rolling admissions. Ik they won’t be super elite but maybe it’s a better option depending on r major. Like purdue and there are some others. Also I guess there are some good Indian Liberal arts colleges and stuff. Like Manipal has a great transfer program. Also, in the email they didn’t say whether UChicago went to their waitlist and then we were rejected or they never went to their waitlist.
All the kids at my school who I know on the wait list have been sent rejection emails. However, I have still not received either a rejection or an acceptance so I’m assuming they have rounds.

My counselor called in and talked to the Assistant Dean of Admissions, said they had a particularly high matriculation rate this year (a.k.a. few spots will be given to us).

I think it is the same every year for those who are on the waitlist, tension, despair and flustration. But I think now a days there are lot more opportunities for those to get off the list than just 6-10 years ago. For one, there was no such thing about gap year offering, for another, the number of getting off the list was below 30, some times in the teens and they were published afterwards. So consider yourself lucky to stay on the list for so long and good luck to everyone.
So are most people by now off of the wait list? Does this mean that I may have a decent chance of being pulled off of the list?
Considering making a call to my area representative who is also assistant dean of admissions, should I go for it? What are things that I should consider saying?

You just do not make that call without NEW information about yourself. Something that will tip yourself over the waitlist or can make an impression to that representative. You have to remember, once you are on the waitlist, the chances are slim to be admitted, to get in from this point, close to June, is almost impossible. So, you should do whatever you can to impress your representative, even that is a crap shoot.
Hi everyone, I received a z-list offer from UChicago a few weeks ago in May after a bit of a struggle; I was already committed to another college but my guidance counselor called and email to ask for me, and after I found out that there were still openings I emailed and spoke with a reader myself. During the call they asked me to confirm that I was still interested and then I got the provisional letter in my account.
Does anyone know if it looks bad to say no to the provisional offer? I haven’t paid my enrollment deposit yet, but my high school has really good relations with UChicago. Would turning down this provisional offer be like not going to a
@toengineerornottoengineer Just curious as to why you went to all the trouble to speak to an admission officer if you weren’t really interested. To answer your question, obviously no one is going to be happy if you turn them down, but you can’t spend the next four years of your life at a place you don’t want to be. You have to do what is best for you.
To refuse an admission offer will never hurt the College, they have such a long list that they do not care if your decision is one way or the other, they just go down the line to make an offer to the next person. What it really means is to the candidate, it is a difficult decision to make in such a short period of time.
If I would like to write a letter that I have a continuous interest, should I do that by sending email or writing it down in a document and updating in the portal?
