@Hoped123 she received a phone call around 5 pm, and then her portal was updated to an acceptance letter. Additionally, she was deferred EA round, if that makes any difference.
Fingers crossed that we all receive some good news by the end of this week!

guys, if we get off the waitlist, do you think there are money left for scholarships 
I already paid enrollment deposit $500 and housing fee 1000 $ and those are not refundable in case I get in and with no scholarship is almost as good as being rejected when I think of it
There will still be financial aid for need but I doubt they would have saved any of the merit scholarships.

@playcool I canāt imagine any circumstance in which they have money left over for scholarships. If you were deserving of a scholarship from UChicago, you certainly would not have been waitlisted in the first place. If you get in, though, it is need blind, so you may qualify for need-based aid. Do not under any circumstance expect a scholarship.
@jarrett211 I completely agree with you on the merit scholarships.
@jarrett211 however, do not forget that they are people with merit (a few maybe) that do not enroll, just like I turned down two huge scholarships merit based from different schools. so now, those are available for the waitlisted . whether they will use it I do not know, all I can do is speculate
Just like with acceptances they only expect a certain percentage of yield on the merit scholarships. So they offer more merit than they really plan to give knowing the percentage that are likely to accept and decline.
@playcool Also, if they were going to give out more merit aid, it would probably go to people in EA and RD who hadnāt gotten any yet. Logically.

nothing yet. I wonder if they are going to wait until the 15th which is sunday. I just need the closure
@playcool True, I hope they just come up front and give me the decision, as I already kinda know that itās probably a rejection :)) :(( (International student needing high amount of aid, with an average SAT score)
But until they do so, the tiny amount of hope keeps tingling, and thatās becoming annoying these days

Rejected, not surprised though. There were so many people waitlisted that I didnāt aggressively pursue the waitlist as I did for other schools.
I received an email with my decision at 2:36pm. Check your emails everyone.
Just got rejected. Iām not surprised, and Iād be fine with it, but I was literally headed out the door to prom and got rejected from Harvard at the same time.
@playcool I didnāt apply to any good safety schools, and those that I applied (and got admitted to), donāt provide any financial aid, so I guess I am staying in India only for this yearā¦ I will apply for a transfer next year though.
And yup, got the rejection email. As expected. :))
