has anyone with rather low ACT/SAT scores (in comparison to most accepted applicants), but very good writing been accepted?

@GlitterVomit, I had a 32 (which isn’t low, but I guess lower than average admitted), with great writing and a really good interview. but also what helped me is that I’m really well-rounded and will be able to contribute a lot to the community

GlitterVomit, I would consider myself has having pretty low test scores (didn’t break 2,000 on SAT, 31 ACT) and I was accepted. I think my writing was my best quality and I was able to show them my passion for learning and the university. Also, my interview went really well (I think!)

[] Extended essay(which topic): Two types of people (savers and spenders). [] Teacher Recommendation #2: excellent. talked about my passion in physics and how I voluntarily took extra time during labs to help others and explain problems.
[] Counselor Rec: very good, talked about how I really had a commitment to helping others/mentioned how I had the highest number of AP exams and 5s in our grade
[] Additional Rec: from work; my boss adores me, enough said.
[] Interview: excellent, I had a really great interview who was really open about how she graded the interview and told me I was one of the best she’d ever done

[] Strengths: definitely my ECs, community involvement, and my work. Essays to a certain extent as well.
[] Weaknesses: GPA
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I think they managed to look past just the GPA and see that I had taken the most rigorous courseload possible, skipping one year in both math and science to take more advanced classes
[] What would you have done differently?: probably should have had a higher GPA, but oh well, i’m in[/ul]

I have sort of generic ECs although I am very passionate about certain topics (which I conveyed in my Why Chicago? and optional favorite things essays). My supplemental essay was delightfully weird and wacky and contrasted greatly with my main Common App essay, which was rather somber. I come from NY, and I am a white male.

Sorry but i have a quick question. how do some people have pretty high weighted gpa’s but average unweighted GPA and have only take 2-4 Ap classes. I have taken 4 AP’s and gotten A’s in nearly all my classes but only have a weighted of 4.1 and unweighted of 3.8. Are people including first semester senior year to their GPA? or am i missing something? or are school just different in how they weight? Sorry for this side note once again but im a little confused.
