General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
I’m pretty depressed. It was my number one, and I don’t really even want to go anywhere else, and for some reason deferral just feels like delayed rejection.

It’s looking like deferral is just more common this year. As in, deferral is less likely to result in acceptance, IMO.

I wish they’d just rejected me instead!

DEFERRED

I felt like lead for a few minutes but now I’m ok.

Looks like the time at which we got our decisions did matter.

@GoingForAReach nope, you’re not alone. I’ve been waiting for 3 hours but still no yellow box. I can’t log in anymore either. Congrats to acceptees and goodluck to deferred, you still have hope!

Oh really? Look at the trend… First a ton of acceptances. Then a ton of deferrals. What do you think is next?

I second @baburov. Sorry to say, but that’s what it looked like, and I’m sure that’s what it will remain.

If that is the trend, I highly doubt it was intentional.

Seems like an awfully big mistake to make for a school that’s top-tier (I was gonna toss in a supposedly, but that just seemed excessively ****y.)

Decision: Accepted

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT I (by section): 2400
[] SAT IIs: Math Level 2 770, U.S. History 780, Literature, 780, Biology M 720

[] Optional Favorite Things Essay: I wrote about my favorite authors: Kurt Vonnegut and Meg Cabot
[] Extended Supplemental Essay: The one about games—wrote it in narrative form. Was pretty much hit or miss. I tried to go for a stereotypically UChicago flavor, and I suppose it worked. =]

[] Counselor Rec (if you saw them): Didn’t see it, but she is an excellent counselor and I am glad that I have her out of all the counselors at my school
[] Interview (feel, interviewer and general location): Very casual, lol, semi-awkward, about 30 minutes. He recently graduated from law school and said that I would fit in at Chicago because a lot of my favorite things that I told him about were science fiction (book= anything by Vonnegut, movie= Illusionist). Starbucks

[/ul]Other Factors: Nada
