I don’t know if I’ll go to Umich though, I can feel a lot of arrogance from Michigan people, especially w/ this whole “Harvard of the midwest” thing.
what are my chances of getting in?

^Are you in state? I would say pretty good, I have certainly seen similar stats get accepted. Have they given those of you who were deferred any idea when you will hear?

I’m soooooo confused. When are you people getting your decisions? I applied early and have contacted the school at least 6 times and asked the same question: when do decisions come out for regular decision?
Apparently, mid-april, but everyone says they’re rolling.

^ You are not alone! We are confused and my d is very upset. Everything on the website, on the application itself, and in the campus tour says rolling, but now they say no one hears till April! I contacted admissions yesterday and pointed out that on the new student checklist the 2nd item is to attend “Campus Day”. Campus Day visits are January-March! Also they say the merit scholarships go out in March. So if no one other than EA kids will even hear till April, I asked if they are excluded from these things. Yup, tough luck is basically their attitude. I just can’t understand how they can do this! They are totally screwing the students from being able to be prepared and get scholarships. Why? We applied in October being told it was rolling and now we have to wait till April. I am really frusterated. I realize they said no one was guaranteed to hear until April, but they also said rolling decisions would start in January. I think it is just awful to change that mid-process.

Are we sure that they changed the process? What if it is rolling but they just don’t want to tell us? Or is it regular now? Mid-April is in a looong time.

Not happy at all to say the least. I have just finished throwing out the last of my U of M stuff. Even if I get in later, I don’t want to go anymore.

Wow, Bauerhockey, those are some pretty solid stats for a deferral, especially since you’re in-state. Did you apply EA?

wow… I blame your counselor

Why do you blame the counselor? That scares me because my d’s counselor is useless. Only works a couple hours a week, forgets to do things…useless.

And yes, I do think it is possible they are still doing rolling but saying they are not just to gain time. I hope so. April is a very long time to wait! But man, if you can’t get in with a 34 and 4.02 I just don’t know!

Same here my counselor is a dummy as well.

I highly doubt one mediocre counselor recommendation is going to completely screw your chances for getting in, it was probably a combination of things.

i called the university around 10 times yesterday and today and they all (except for one) told me that they don’t know when decisions come out. they’re “working as hard as they can to release them as soon as possible.” one told me that they could come out anywhere from march to mid-april, so they are still technically rolling but with limits. finally an answer, dammit.

We can’t be sure if that’s the case until we see some decisions coming out. By the way, I called the university today too regarding my mid-year transcript and additional recommendation. I was told that they received and filed them. They are working efficient enough. :)

A lot of well qualified applicants were deferred this year… I think Michigan is hesitant to accept over-qualified applicants too early since they most likely applied to Michigan as a safety option.

Of people I know with 2200+, or even 2300+ SAT and close to perfect gpa, more than half got deferred. Others with 2000~2150 SAT, and good gpa mostly got in.

And Michigan forgot to make a decision to me even I applied to EA.

Call them up. They’ll give you your decision

So who all here is waiting for Regular Decision now?

i am, jorabamama!
