Thanks for some encouragement most of the people I talk to say that i deserve wharton and Ross, but the thing is that all that is based on the experiences i have had out of school( i have said my credentials many times before if u didnt know). I love the stock market and business and know i will excel there, but the only thing is that with a 3.7 and a 28 if i get deferred from Ross how do i even have a shot at my other dream schools like Stern, or even wharton… Please respond back if i am saying anything wrong and thank you once again!!!

^Firebat, with all due respect, you may want to watch out for the karma police. You broke the CC Terms of Service last week by posting YouTube ;)

seriously people i know the stress and anxiety is getting to all of us but do you really not have anything better to do than to take each other down and report each other on CC? please let’s just move on and forget about it…it’s for the best :)

gopadub- with all due respect, you might want to look at some less selective schools in addition to Michigan and Penn. Every school I know uses uw gpa which you said was 3.3 for you. That combined with a 28 makes it almost impossible to get in even with good ec’s. Prove me wrong though, I hope you get in.

An admissions rep at the school said they use uw gpa. Not every high school (acutally a lot of high schools) don’t weight and they don’t want to figure out all the different systems so they just put everyone on the same playing field and use uw gpa. This is straight from a rep at the school.

Suggest you take Jan SAT. Most of the Ivies accept Jan SAT, Mich also might accept the same given that their time line given fall RD time line is Feb 1st. My D also was low on confidence, but she got into U Mich as well as Urbana and others. She is applying for Wharton, Columbia and Harvard now.

I will give the same advice i gave to her, there are several folks with 2300+ and 3.9+ GPA, specially for colleges like Wharton, Columbia, Harvard (looks like Mich is also becoming as selective). Then none should be considered if you don’t have these stats. But that is not the case, if you look at their Stats Ex: Columbia has 680/750 (Reading) for 25/75 and 690/780 for 25/75 (Math).

So get into the the acceptable range and then differentiate your application with all the good things you have done and most importantly a great essay that has a compelling story (for Collges that you have not applied yet). Get good half yearly report and recs.

Be positive. PM me and we could chat. Good luck, You will make it.

I do think UMich weighs the rigor of your course load a lot. (like it says on College Board).
I have average GPA, average SAT, one amazing common app essay and two okay supplements, and a very rigorous course load. I was accepted last Friday from OOS.

ajsz033, What is “average” about a 2360 SAT score??? Even your GPA, although not quite as specatcular as your SAT score, was NOT average (95.3/100).

Ok for everyone wondering i wasn’t banned or anything and the hateful comment that i posted, which i highly regret, must have been removed by a mod or something because i didn’t remove it. The reason you haven’t seen me on here is because the comments were getting nasty so i thought if would be better if i stopped posting and just leave it alone. I do regret my post, but wolverinemom’s comments were making all the poor kids who just got deferred angry and she had no need to keep telling us untrue facts over and over again. I am just here to apologize to wolverinemom, but i grown women should not be on these boards insulting kids i could understand if you yourself were a kid and didn’t know better, but grow up.

By the way if u guys didnt know my stats
3.7 gpa ( i asked U mich and they told me they look at the transcript one…so idk) (my school doesnt send out unweighted and only some IB and AP classes are weighted)…
I have taken the most rigorous courses in my school they offer i think 25 AP/IB I have done 20 of them… ( full IB diploma student )
I go to a top 1% school
I am in the top 10 in volunteering hours for my city
I started a first ever business club this year ( first in my school district )
I am the first high schooler to be on the board of my cities chamber of commerce
I play tennis

… and now i am thinking of starting the Wall Street Prep program… to be certified by the end of the summer it costs like $500…( by the way Ross ( U mich ), and NYU stern are my reeaches I think) I already got accepted into Indiana University, and Ohio State University fisher college of business those were my into medium schools i guess … I wrote an email to the U mich admissions director for my region and am waiting on her response ( I kinda told her that this is my first choice and that i wanna be invloved in the student govt, and join the Michigan Investment Banking Club there ( i have already talked to the prez there about that)). So thanks for all the nice and honest responses I hope that all you guys get in including me Gl to all and Congratz to all that were accepted!!!

for those of you that were deferred, have hope as I know how you feel.
i was deferred from wharton/mit and it sucks but this year so many people were deferred that I think that there is actually a decent shot now at getting off of the deferred list and getting in regular. “Deferred is the new accepted”

And to those of you that were accepted congrats!
