^No, they don’t. It’s considered a freshman class, which, by the way, I took in 6th and 7th grade. We define what simple geography terms are…that’s it. I was taking AP World History at my old school, and when I came here I asked to be put into it. They told me that, “The Katy school district doesn’t believe in offering AP classes to its students.” My old school had at least 100 sophomores (out of a total of 450 in my class) that were enrolled in at least 2 AP’s.

^That sucks.

Wait… So they have Pre-AP classes but not actual AP classes?

I had to drop AP Chem. It made me sad… but I would have failed. (I was failing.) So now I’m taking Philosophy!

My schedule is:
Pre-Calculus Honors
Philosophy
Band
English 11 Honors
AP Music Theory
AP US History
French IV Honors

I’m hoping that it doesn’t look too easy… because it most definitely isn’t.

Definitely gonna have tonsss of AP Bio and APUSH homework to do today because I went to a Blink 182/Weezer concert last night and didn’t get home til 3…
SO TIRED and I hate being a junior ) ;

oh my gosh…junior year is insanity so far

wails and buries head in papers

lol i haven’t been on teh CCz for awhile now… junior year’s going well. surprisingly, not much hw compared to others and what I had expected. Mostly just ECs that are sucking away all my time.

Need to buckle down on SAT Subj. Test Review and AP self-studying. I keep on forgetting that I need to do those things >.<

I think I’ll survive Starting my 6th week tomorrow… progress reports come out this week.

Oh, and, shameless plug of the Facebook “CCers: Class of 2011” group ;)

i remember coming home from the first day of school (9/08) with 7 hours of sleep, thinking so naively how little sleep i got. now, im getting 4 hours nighty. its the second week of school and im dying. JOY

calc is so fxcking easy.

Definitely Agreed

Le bump .

junior year is so crazy!!! I’m only starting my second full week of classes but already I have sooo much work to do. How are people feeling about October PSATs? What kind of preparation are you doing?

we should definitely keep this thread going throughout the year so all the '11ers can share. :)

Yeah, it’s definitely crazy. We already have progress reports coming out next week.

For the PSAT, I’m just doing the SAT QOTD and a section from BB2 every day.

We’re half-way through our grading period and I’m doing well but I’m really behind in my online classes. Not that you care, but so far:

AP English Lit: 98
AP US History: 93
Biology Honors: 103
CHM 151: General Chemistry I: 95
MAT 271: Calculus I: 100

Everyone hates me in bio because I only show up for half of the class each day (and it’s still the longest period of the day) and I have the highest grade…most everyone has a C.

I’m really proud of myself compared to last year. If you read anything about me and last year…well…yeah

As for the PSAT, I need like a 215 to qualify in my state (probably not happening). I’m going to try to find the time to prepare. I made an 1870 on the SAT sophomore year, but I mainly need to get my sucky math score up. It’s not like an Asian-fail score either, it’s a 100-points-below-state-flagship-25th-percentile score.

I think I’ve finally decided where to apply for college: NCSU (safety), University of Rochester (Match), UNC (High Match), UChicago (Epic Reach)

^Nice job! Lol with everyone being jealous:) I hope you get into UChicago:) Based off of your current grades though, I wouldn’t call it a reach. I would think it’s doable:) Best of luck with everything everyone!:)

quick question: does anyone have any really good websites, books, etc. for PSAT/SAT vocab studying? I’ve tried a couple of different things but would love some suggestions. What’s everyone’s hardest class so far?

I’ve been doing pretty well in my classes so far (No AP’s, all honors except math)

I’m taking the ACT in October, is anybody else?

I’ve been a little more busy, and I joined a couple extra clubs this year. Since I quit field hockey this year, I also started with a part time job at a pizza place. (It kinda sucks, but I probably will only work once or twice a week. And if I’m not doing sports anymore, it’ll be good to put on my college apps)

This year is definitely more challenging than last. But I guess that’s what junior year means. AP English Language is hell disguised [haha] but so far I like how things are going in my other classes

I’m trying to spend time prepping for the PSAT/SAT in between all this. I feel so suffocated

im on a semester-block schedule, but even so im feeling some heat… hw piles up easily. i have a good four or five hours to do tomorrow… but even so i feel like i have it easy compared to everyone else and their 4 hour a night sleep.

Wow, it baffles me how people sleep for only a few hours.

I’m on block scheduling too and it makes it easier since we only have 4 classes each semester. But with extra-curriculars and studying for the PSAT/SAT it’s still pretty tiring. Guess we just have to get through it one day at a time.
