Official Unofficial Class of '11 Thread

class of 11’ can’t wait baby!

errr i’m taking:

AP English Language
Honors Algebra 2
Chemistry
NOT AP U.S
French 1/2 & 3/4
Journalism

I’m pretty excited about this year, it’s gunna be BOSS, just wait.

ha i haven’t studied for the PSAT at all, i’m pretty much being forced to take it…
and i’m probably going to fail out the anus
i’ve just got so much to do in so little time

last year I got my PSAT scores back in the middle of Winter Break (So either way end of December, or the first couple days of jan.)

O ok, well let’s hope we get them during the break:)

I’m pretty sure I didn’t do as well as I would have likes on my APUSH test today.

At the moment- I am feeling like MRS. Slade (refrence to Roman fever) feeling like I won’t get into an ivy and can’t do anything about it feeling fatalistic about options- such an awful feeling.

^understand, nil desperandum. I think this is a very, very, very hard time in terms of academics/freaking out about the future. It just doesn’t seem possible that I’m going to get everything done that I need to. :)

I’m worried about that too but i’m also worried about so many other things like

  1. I have to raise my GPA from a mediocre 96-97/98
  2. I have to raise my class rank to top 10 percent or top 7%- to number 20
3.i want to get into TASP because I need better stuff on my app
4.Brain Bee, Scholastic art & Writing awards/ Forensics competition and Mock trial team, PJAS- ditto want to do well in because needed on application to apply to better schools
  3. Want to do better in PSAT for National Merit

How do I accomplish this? What if ican’t do well in these areas? I feel semi-fail.

Don’t try to get into TASP just to pad your app.

Wow, that is a lot nil desperandum! But I know that you will do well in everything! Try not to stress too much, I’m sure it will all work out pretty well in the end. :)

^^I agree .

Don’t worry james chang i still have to research it- plus, I don’t know much about it. If I dit it it would be because I liked it not to pad my app.
Anyways you seem to have good stats so you’ll probably get in, not me. I haven’t really done well at much since 9th grade so don’t worry.

^Aww:( . You changed your location again…haha

I got two ribbons at debate this weekend! A 5th place in committees. And an 8th place in regular Congress. I didn’t feel like I did well, but well is a relative term. So I apparently did well enough to get ribbons.

Do you enjoy speech and debate? How long have you been doing it for?

Hahaha i never understand what you guys are talking about (TASP, etc.)

Telluride Association Summer Program.
Most prestigious humanities program/award in existence basically for high schoolers.

@nil: my stats won’t get me in (and they aren’t that good at that either).

You have to write 6 essays; only if you make the finalist cut (~12%) will you be asked for an interview + send in your transcript and teacher recs. Final amount accepted is ~7%. So as you can see it’s largely grades/test scores independent until the final stage (probably to make sure you aren’t a serial rapist who writes good essays or something)

@advanced: Personally, I think RSI is; however, I’m not applying since I don’t have a strong enough science/math background, and I have no idea on what to research if I somehow miraculously get in.

Well, James tis better to be friends than semi-rivals or what not. I hope you get in. I really wish you good luck. I would possibly like to get in but I’m tenative to set myself up for failure. Don’t be so down on yourself James- afterall AP classes promote intelligent thought!

Oh yeah fershers, I hope we both get in! I just wanted to make sure you had the right mindset when applying - past TASPers had made it clear that readers can tell when you don’t have that “passion for learning”.
