@Mechanical, did you have to make the $300 deposit or do anything else to get the financial aid package? and do you know when itll come around by?

@transfer1337 I’m not sure if you need to commit to enroll or not to get a financial aid package. I just meant that I’m very curious as to when I will get any financial aid information, just like everyone else! (I already submitted my ECD though)

o aight fsho did you sign up for orientation too?

yeah. I signed up for the July 27th one! are you waiting for financial aid before you make your decision?

Guys! help me to figure out this. I got April 1st status on Friday. When i just checked OASIS STARS interactive audit report, it says my name, program code: 486, catalog year: 20123, and “STARS - DEGREE PROGRESS REPORT BACHELOR OF SCIENCE BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION” on the top box. Is it a positive sign? damn I cant wait till Monday…

wltn70 I think that means you were accepted

@mechanical: yeah im not sure if ill go if it costs too much or if USC is worth it for undergrad engineering

Anyone know if it’s easy to switch majors at USC? And the process

anyone still have June 1st status?

I was admitted into my first choice, which is business and I was wondering if anyone can explain something to me. I didn’t take accounting 1 or 2 because I ran out of time and on the website for Marshall, it states:
"The following suggested transferable courses are optional (not all courses taken elsewhere will transfer to USC). Completion will advance University matriculation.

Accounting 1 and Accounting 2 (Transferable accounting sequence will replace one business core accounting class)
(BUAD 280 and 281 are replaced with BUAD 305x)"

what does this mean? If I take accounting 1 and 2 I will have to take BUAD 305X at USC? Or does it mean that if I take accounting 1 and 2 I will have one less business core class to take?

angieyeh- I dont know the answer to your question but how did you find out you were admitted to your first choice? Did you get your admissions package already?

@wltn70
when did your STARS interactive update? Is your financial aid status updated too?

@everyone
my financial aid is updates as of yesterday but my STARS interactive and ecd box is not seen. But I still have 4 boxes, what does this mean?

you will most likely get an ecd box or 3 boxes on monday

@ngarcia ohh hahaha i was hoping you would since you also applied for marshall! did you take accounting 1 and 2 at your cc or where ever you went? i already received my package
I live like 20 minutes by freeway from USC though, so if you live farther away you’ll probably get it tomorrow!

Hey guys for Cali natives or anyone who would like to input what are some safe neighborhoods to live at I wouldn’t mind a commuting, would prefer not to… You guys have any ideas where you living at?

angieyah- I took accounting 1a and 1b but im not sure if that is just accounting 1 or 1&2 at USC. I live near Fresno so I thought I would’ve received it yesterday. I literally was staring out the window for the mail to arrive lol :/

BeanTown- this is kind of a hard question to answer because if you ever been to L.A. you know that there are a lot of pockets of good areas surrounded by generally unfavorable ones. The only areas I can say that are really good is Beverly Hills and Marina Del Rey. If you are looking at apartments the best thing I can tell you to do is go on Google Maps and type in the address. Then click on street view and look around the streets and see what kind of neighborhood it is. Sorry thats kind of vague. Im sure someone who lives in the LA area has a lot more info.

Im in the process of looking for apartments and Im looking at places in Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Culver City, Westwood (yikes), Mid-Wilshire, Hollywood… Ok, basically everywhere but the USC area haha. I dont mind spending an hour in traffic to live in a place I feel comfortable. I have found some nice studios for under $800 on padmapper.com

@Ngarcia3 thanks for the info I pretty much have the same neighborhoods I have been looking at… Good luck with your search…

Anyone feel free to add on places or those of you who live in LA can be more specific

angieyeh, everyone who transfers into Marshall has to take BUAD 305, but ONLY if you’ve already taken financial and managerial accounting at your CC (so accounting 1 & 2). If you haven’t taken those, you probably will have to take BUAD 280 and 281.

Hope that helps

CrownOftheSea thanks! All of this is kind of confusing. Am I supposed to follow the sample schedule they posted on their website.
[Transfer Admissions | USC Marshall School of Business](<a href=“Home - USC Marshall”>Home - USC Marshall)
Did you transfer last year?

BeanTown how long of a drive are you willing to make? Also here’s a map of where there’s security people around campus so it should be pretty safe in the surrounding areas. http://capsnet.usc.edu/DPS/documents/UPCBoundaryMap-RD090314b_000.pdf

angieyeh, no problem! I did transfer in last year. The sample schedule on that website is just that, a sample. It depends how many GEs you have done and if you’ve finished the 2 accounting classes.

However, if you do go to Orientation, you’ll find that the advisors there generally have you take the same classes your first semester here. For example, in the Fall I took BUAD 305, 310, WRIT 340 and Econ 251 (it’s now 351, I THINK).

But basically it comes down to what you’ve completed so far and if you’re coming in as a junior or sophomore.

Hopefully that’s not even more confusing! feel free to ask if you’ve got more questions!
