Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

Are the personal statements that important for transfers? or would GPA/grades trump everything else? I don’t think my written statements are good at all ):

I planned for about a 2000 word “statement” for transfer. Idk if I went too far though.

@kagw11

My high school transcript was mailed a few weeks ago and it still hasn’t shown up as processed either. Starting to get worried, this might be normal but what happens if it did get lost in the mail or sent to the wrong address by my high school? I won’t know until after the deadline.

@smalone3d

I really wouldn’t worry about it. Admissions realizes that things like that happen (mail gets lost). Contact them and let them know the situation. Tell them you sent it, but it still says they haven’t received it. They will likely tell you to wait another week, and if it still says they haven’t received it, you can resend it.

2smalone3d: How are you seeing the status of what they receive?

and @jeremystory: that’s pretty low, but this is USC, not UT Austin…

Mitch,

how do you know the deadline is Feb 1st 11:59 PM?

I’m studying for my midterm tonight and i was going to finish up my app tomorrow and send it off :)

Yes, lets please confirm this thoroughly: is the deadline Midnight on the 31st or 11:59 PM Jan 1st and where is this listed?

Yeah, and also, it’s just a matter of pure logic. If it’s due on Feb 1st, then you would have that ENTIRE day to get it in before it stops being the first and it begins to be the second. If they wanted it all in BEFORE the first, then they would’ve made this the due date. So you could have this ENTIRE day to finish your application before the first.

At least that’s how I see it.

Out of curiosity, for those who have received an email to prompting them to create a USConnect account about how long did it take to receive it after submitting your application?

Eveything is offically submitted and or sent haha now the waiting begins!

Thanks Mitch. Do we get an email to create a USConnect?

@teddygrams I called admissions last week, and I got access to USConnect today, and it only shows my college transcript as received. I think I’ll call them tomorrow and tell them my predicament.

@mitch I submitted my common app last night, wasn’t able to make a USConnect account until around noon today. So less than 24 hours.

Hey did anyone title their Personal Essay? I didnt but it feels strange not to

It is pretty confusing, because on the common app website it said there was a record number of applications sent on December 31st, right before the January 1st deadline. This means that most students believe the deadline to be the day before it is due at 11:59 right before it hits midnight.

But the "For students submitting online applications, anything submitted by 11:59 p.m. (Pacfic Time) of the deadline day will be considered “on time.” as mentioned earlier is pretty clear that it means Feb 1st , anytime before 12 midnight

Well, didn’t get in last year.

Time to put in the app and give it another go!

To those of you in the same boat as me, that is the definition of “fight on”.

I can log onto USConnect but I’m not sure if the system is accessing my old application. I applied as a freshman. For example, I can view my admission documents but they’re all from HS: Official SAT Scores, Secondary School Report, etc etc. No mention of my HS or College transcript. I guess I’ll wait about a week to call and find out.

snizzle you aware, lol.

but yes, this is my second try too

For someone who asked earlier, I’m applying as English too :)
