Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

@smcpaul

As of now you can scan transcripts. They will be considered unofficial like BlackRose21 said. But this way you can save the trouble of getting 10 transcripts for 10 different schools. If they take scans then send the scan in, when you get admitted THEN send your official transcript in.

There’s no LOR requirement so I didn’t send in any.

@blackrose21 I sent my lor through mail

@ragingzero

but i thought u needed to send them an official transcript so that way they know that u didn’t tamper with the grades or anything. because schools usually not only seal the outside but they have to stamp the transcripts with their official seal on each of the papers.

@smcpaul
i wouldn’t wait till you get admitted to send it. just send it when u can. or better yet if they ask for it and didn’t check it off then send it.

@smcpaul
I think for college you can wait till this Thursday to send your official transcripts. For the high school transcript, you have to send an official one if you have less than thirty credits. If you have more, they aren’t required so im sure scanned copies will suffice.

Sent from my DROIDX using CC

@hmuzify and @italianpnoy112,
I’m so glad to find other architecture students here! I’m so excited!

@hmuzify, don’t freak out. From the sound of things your portfolio is really diverse which is a good thing. I cannot say for sure, but I think as an art/art related major, a lot is placed on your skills, not just your grades, which is a good thing. Don’t worry about your grades. Especially if you’ve been working on them. I’m sure they’ll notice

My portfolio had no buildings or architecture related pieces! I haven’t really done any of that stuff in my current school. They don’t offer it. (Part of the reason I want to transfer). I just included several still life drawings, oil watercolor and acrylic paintings, pastel sketches, A dress I made for my 3D art class (Out of paper, coffee filters and coffee sleeves) and that was pretty much it. My GPA was 3.8 for fall, but that’s only 1 sem, so I’m sure not much weight will be put on that. High school grades were’t so hot, but I’m still being hopeful!

Just to clarify, everyone must submit official high school transcripts, including those of us with >30 units. I have over 60 but was still required to send them.

@blackrose I submitted my LORs on the common app (through the “Additional Information” tab) but you can also submit them online through USConnect and you can just snail mail it as well.

DJpsu2015: A very interesting combination there. I might have to minor or double major now =D

Jeremystory: Yes you are correct. There is other urban studies programs like the one at Cal Poly but USC is the best for this.

@jr
I also applied to Price, but with a concentration in Non-Profit not Urban Planning. How do you feel about your app?

sooo… when is the earliest we should expect decisions?

@mark,

I’m pretty sure we will hear back around May and through mid-June for those who the SGR. Correct me if I’m wrong anyone.

Seems about right DJ. The majority of applicants should read around early May. If you receive an SGR then expect your decision to be out around a bit later.

If anything, decisions have to be out after freshman decisions which are April 1.

I still believe some of us should hear from USC by April 1st because the transfer merit scholarship recipients will be chosen by April 1st.

@BlackRose21

Well either way works. Last year I sent in all official transcripts, fall ,winter, and spring ( appeal). Heck, I even brought it in person. My roommate at the time always just scanned his transcripts and sent those to them. In the end though they ask for a sealed official transcript because that’s when they make sure you have what you had before.

Theres really no use in lying because the official transcript will review it. Like UC apps you’re putting in your own grade, they don’t even ask for a transcript until you are accepted.

So my LOR should’ve been sent about 2 months ago. My prof said she’d send it by the new year, at the latest.

Anyway, I just got my USConnect a few days ago and everything from commonapp has been updated including my high school transcripts (I believe…? They have Secondary School Report on there twice) but it does not take note of a letter of rec.

Should I call or wait a week or two for it to perhaps update? It worries me because my HS transcripts were sent LATER than my LOR.

I’m worried because my prof was from my study abroad journalism class and she is currently in a completely diff country on a journalism assignment so I think asking her to write an additional LoR might be outrageous if the first one never went through!! :frowning: so worried that this’ll be my downfall.

@Jeremy

I just checked the Scholarship chart and you’re correct. It does state applicants will be notified by April 1. So your reasoning does make sense.

@lullabies

Wait until tomorrow to see if the system updates. I’m still missing my college transcript which I ordered about 10 days ago. If it hasn’t arrived, see if you can upload the LOR.

USC has everything they need. Now I must wait. I’m so excited. I pray I get in!

^I know, the wait is gonna be murder.

@smcpaul

You need to send a sealed high school transcript to USC, even if you are over 30 semester units for proof of graduation. After grades are up for your winter course(s) send them an updated transcript. And so you’re in Santa Monica now? Is that because they have the highest transfer rates to USC hehe?

USC might already have your materials (transcripts, etc) but they have not updated your USConnect. They have all of my stuff except my LOR but they just haven’t updated it.
