Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

My status changed too! :0

Sorry, I’ve been lurking this thread for updates since applying. Hey everyone! *waves

I actually applied to USC a couple of years ago when my GPA was much lower and was denied, and as far as I can remember, my status never changed once from the standard “we have all of the materials we need and you’ll hear back by june, etc.” message. Hopefully the fact that my status changed is a good sign??

I have that status too! But my document manager still shows I’m missing my transcripts… :(

newchapter- what year are you? and when did you apply to USC and for what major? :)

"The University of Southern California is pleased to offer the ability of students to receive online messages regarding the status of their application. However, all decision notifications are made via postal mail.

Status not available"

:O

@ScGal12 I’m applying to USC as a junior transfer. The first time I applied was for Fall 2010. I had applied as an English major with Psych as a second choice major. However, back then I only had a 3.2 due to having a couple of bad semesters while working full-time. After being rejected by USC, I decided to stay at community college and complete the honors transfer program so that I could TAP to UCLA. I now have 93 semester units completed and am at about a 3.6, although USC will calculate my GPA at around a 3.55-3.57 since they don’t consider academic renewals (I got one D years ago and retook the class). Right now, I’m applying again as an English major with Comparative Lit as my second choice.

My stats aren’t stellar, but I have a strong upward trend since I’ve had straight A’s the past four semesters. I also have really good EC’s and a strong personal statement. I’m praying that I have a shot at getting in!

What major are you applying to?

"The University of Southern California is pleased to offer the ability of students to receive online messages regarding the status of their application. However, all decision notifications are made via postal mail.

Status not available"

+1

mine also shows status unavailable!! really hope to hear some (good)news very soon!!:)

thats my status too!!! what does that mean??? ahhhh

Same here. Looks like they updated all transfers with that status.

Newchapter- That’s cool im glad you are applying again! Yeah I’m actually applying for English and Creative Writing. However, my GPA will probably be a 3.3 since I do have one F on my transcript from a math class…I’m on the trojan transfer plan too i don’t know if u have heard of that or not…so how old are you now? how long have u been at a CC?

I hand in all my transcripts on Feb,1th. It has been a while. But when I checked today it saying "The University of Southern California is pleased to offer the ability of students to receive online messages regarding the status of their application. However, all decision notifications are made via postal mail.

Status not available".

I tried to use my uscID and password of USConnect to login in MYUSC. But that did not work.
It said,“You have entered an invalid USC ID”.

Actually, I lied. I was skimming through the freshman forum and it seems everyone (accepted, rejected, and people still waiting on their mail) has that message as their status.

Who knows.

looks like usc is slowly becoming more selective. only 18% of freshmen applicants were accepted and about 16.6% for transfers.

Yeah well the percentage decrease is due to the number of applicants rising because of the switch over to the CA.

How did you get the transfer numbers if no one has been accepted this year?

What… 16.6% is scary…

@jamesbball: I’m also wondering how you got that number, no one’s been accepted… Do you have a link or source?

Also that’d be a big jump, last I saw their transfer acceptance was about 26%.

Last year’s admit rate for freshman was 23% and a 27% for transfers.

As stated above, the actual rate for freshman this year was 18% (45,000 applied with 8,400 being accepted). I am not sure how @james arrived at the 16% number since there are no statistics for this year.

I would be very surprised to see the transfer admit rate fall below 20%.

ive been talking to some of my friends who are seniors this year. seems so odd how they accepted some people and rejected others

There was a good blog post today on the difficulties in admitting/denying some. Link is below.

… I think they are just updating our status…
