Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

Man that sounds scary, 46,000 applicants!!! WOW

i wonder how many transfer applicants there were…

Last year the admit rate of transfer is 27%. i think maybe i was overreacting. Someone got her usc acceptance letter last year even though her usconnect still saying" we are reviewing ur application." BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Yeah. The numbers for last year are on the previous page. It seems everyone’s status including freshman who were admitted/rejected is showing that status.

Logically speaking, I doubt they will get to our applications this week. Taking a quote from the blog post:

Who knows. They might take the rest of the week off and start our applications next week. I’m hoping for the end of the second week or early/mid third week. I’m just guessing on these dates.

Its unfortunate that USC releases decisions “before June 1” (which could be May 30 for all i know), when the deadline for SIR for UC’s is June 1…Gives us transfers who applied to UC’s and USC very little time to decide on a school.

Chargers25,

I know, the wait is killing me and June 1st seems far off. I have been hearing that decisions are more likely to come out around end of April/ early May. We will see though.

@jheff113

I hope youre right…I want a solid few weeks to decide on a school, hopefully USC releases decisions around the same time as UCLA/Berkeley…

Hello, I was recently rejected by USC, but i got the trojan transfer plan. If i do this Trojan Plan, do I have to commit to USC or can I still choose to transfer into a different school.

you go to another school for a year and then apply to transfer during your freshman/sophomore year at that school

you dont technically “commit” if you do the ttp

I would have to agree with Mitch. Highly unlikely they’re going to go through with the transfer apps in the next few days. And who here sent in letters of rec? I sent in two.

ok, thanks iwanttobeatusc! So, is it possible to finish all your credits necessary to tranfer within a year?

CorruptTheory, I sent in 3 - but they were required as part of my supplement(s) for my School of Cinematic Arts application

hmmm its pretty difficult to finish all of them within your freshman year especially if youre at a CC or a UC since theyre so impacted and its hard to get the classes you want. needless to say, you can definitely try to finish as much as you can before you transfer and its definitely doable. being on the trojan transfer plan also helps a lot

a lot of my friends are currently on the trojan transfer plan and a few were able to finish all the USC GE categories so you can definitely do it with the right classes! good luck!

thanks man! or woman lol

My status changed back to the usual.

that 16.6% was what my friend told me who works as an assistant in admissions. don’t think he’s right at all though or if i misinterpreted what he was saying. would be surprised if transfer admissions rate fell below 20%

My Statues has changed from “we need more info (transcripts)” to status not available. to then

"We have received your Common Application and USC Supplement, and it appears we require no additional information at this time. We will be reviewing applications through the month of March, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify transfers by June 1st. Sometimes, in the course of our review of applications, we find that we need additional information. In such cases we will mail a written request. If you receive a request for more information, please respond promptly. In some cases we need to review final, spring term grades. If we request these of you, we will provide specific instructions on how to submit your spring grades to ensure speedy handling. In these cases, we make our final decisions later, typically by mid-July. "

All in one day. by the message it seems that they have been reviewing transfer applications for a while.

Various people have already had the status above. I think it’s the basic one everyone receives.

Lol. That’s what I also said.

But I find it difficult to believe your friend. Of course, I am saying this in the most respectful manner. It’s probably a misunderstanding. To already have an admit rate for transfers means USC has completely reviewed every single application and has acted on them. This leaves out the possibility of applicants receiving SGRs. Moreover, if they already have their decisions for transfers why wait until June 1?

My personal view is I doubt they even started to look at them besides generalities. For example, checking to see if all the required documents are in order before someone reads over the file. I believe this is as far as they have reached. I also hypothesize a few of us will start to see status changes (besides documents missing) really soon. Then again these are only speculations and your guess is as good as mine.

Well if the applicant numbers increased by 20%

and the drop in acceptance is only ~4% There’s still a good chance for many applicants. Especially a hopeful like me with a 3.1 cumulative…

Also, my status still says the generic “We have received your Common Application … this time”. BUT for admission documents I am still missing a transcript.

yeah i just got an email from USC Viterbi Engineering saying that I should know by June 1st and that they know how nerve wracking it can be at this time and the link to the admissions blog
