Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

So if they dont send sgr to all the students, can I tell if I will need it or not?? Is there a usual guidline kind of thing?

@Transferring2012 Did your SGR come through the mail/email or under Application Status Check on connect?

Does anyone know if there are stats for transfer students that get accepted to USC from the past? The recent tweet about ‘students should not have a W on their transcript’ is worrying :/

@alaintran ummm

Currently taking 12 units when applied, added one more but wont be informing them not really important
69 units at end of Sem
GPA - 4.0
Essay - talked about dropping out of highschool going back to school and striving for excellence
Supplement - Decent
Prereq’s - Finished all english, bus calc, accounting, Macro econ (taking Micro this sem have 102% currently)
GE’s - Finished all except cultural global something (Taking it this semester, might get a B cause teacher is weird)
EC’s (although my counselor said for junior transfers don’t really matter) - Church (piano and drums for praise band accting and planner for college group)

  • Interning for and being mentored by a CEO of commercial developing company
  • Worked for a contracting company instead of being in highschool
  • Worked at a bakery (became assistant manager in 6 months
(could’ve added alot more like waiting for bars and what not but didnt seem legal for a 16 - 18 year old serving for pubs and what not)
letter of rec - decent from my managerial accounting professor (USC Alumni)
HS - i think i have THE worst grades for highschool in this forum (Took CHSPE)

@Transfer2OI3 Very nice! I’m pretty sure that acceptance letter will come instead of a SGR!

@alaintran … hope so just learned GPA isn’t everything when I got rejected yesterday -_-"

is anyone on here from ventura county north of NB park? curious if i kno anyone

Someone (accepted transfer) wrote this on the first page of this thread and I thought some of us might need it lol:

"For those who will inevitably speculate about being able to access OASIS and Web Reg, I was not able to access any of these things.

I know it’s going to be difficult, but try not to worry about every little thing. Most of these things aren’t really indicative of acceptance or rejection, but it is a good way to raise your stress level. I was like that too haha."

So, I think we should stop worrying about every single little thing haha. I think it’s best if I stay away from checking this thread for a while, I seriously check it like idk 20+ times a day lol. stressin me out xD

I am not able to access OASIS and WebReg as well, sounds good…haha

@bubbletea94 thank you so much for finding that message. I was really stress out when I heard some people can log on and I can’t. And I just start checking this thread two days ago, can’t believe I will ever be this stress out, but at least it we are not along.

I had emailed USC asking if they wanted a mid term report becasue I am taking two classes that complete their GE requirements this semester and they emailed me back saying no mid-term report was needed but I should submit spring grades when they are available.

Does this count as an SGR? It doesn’t show up on USCconnect though.

Note: I am a junior transfer for Annenberg.

i dont think its technically an sgr but i mean i already planned on sending in my spring grades request or not cuz it can only help.

@chachaa To be honest, “W” are worrying for USC Admissions. Counselors, when you call them up, will tell you about the same thing. However, I would not worry if you have less than 2 “W’s” on your transcripts.

@that1guyy They will eventually need your full transcript to determine correct advising and course placement. However, a SGR is serious in the sense that they cannot make a decision on your application until they have your grades. I hope the difference makes sense.

how do you know if you get a spring grade request?

@rasd765 I have one W on my transcript for a calc ii class that I don’t need for my major. That’s probably a terrible class to have a W for… but I do have an A in calc i and a 4.0 GPA. Ugh. I don’t even want to think about it anymore, it’s stressing me out too much!

Greetings stressed fellow waiters! Is there anyone in this forum who applied to USC’s school of Occupational Therapy for the BS to MA program? I currently attend a private university but since USC is the only school in CA that offers an undergraduate degree in occupational therapy I applied. If so, does anyone know how competitive it is to get in? I heard that last year 75 people applied and only 5 got in but I have no idea really what to expect for my admission. Thanks!

5 out of 75!? that’s crazy

Has anyone apply for Annenberg got acceptance or SGR?

scimpatient,

I’ve been keeping an eye on this thread for a while now and was waiting for an OT major to pop up. i also applied to the BS to MA program (similar reasons too - it being the only one in CA). I’ve heard it’s insanely competitive, there are only a couple hundred students in the entire program. Not sure about exact numbers, but hopefully we’ll get in!

Fingers crossed

I think we’ll start hearing a few decisions next week.
