Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

Also, with most of our stats, the vast majority of us will get in. If you look at the previous threads, the VAST majority of those who applied on College Confidential got accepted. USC said the average accepted GPA last year was 3.6. So, if you got a 3.98, there’s really no point in asking “Is this good enough for USC?” You already know it is, so stop being annoying. MOST of us will get accepted. There’s kids from last year’s thread that had 3.2’s & 3.4’s & got accepted, so if you did most of your GE’s and Pre-reqs, you will probably get in.

@coreyalexander2 I have been looking through last year’s thread and some people with a 4.0 were rejected. You are right about several people getting in with a 3.1-3.6

@bubbletea, wow. Then I guess my SGR means nothing if "everyone is encouraged to turn spring grades in. Lol that kinda sucks. And i will just have a 3.6. Womp wommp.

I have three new boxes: ‘Enrollment Commitment Deposit’, ‘Fall Admits: Connect with your classmates’ (facebook link), and a ‘Spring Admits: Connect with your classmates’. I can also log into oasis and see my audit report

Does everyone else have it? I’m kind of puzzled because my app was completed very late (mid April) and if it is a sign of an acceptance, I would have expected my app to be one of the last ones to be reviewed.

Yeah, but there are several factors that could play into that. Perhaps they had numerous “W’s” on their transcripts. USC doesn’t like those, and it even says so on their website. Perhaps, they didn’t fulfill enough GE’s.

gotta think about the fact that there’s probably ~9000 applicants and maybe only 1% of them in this thread with only like 5 or 6 solid acceptances. we know the past acceptance rates were around 30% so yeah im not totally freaking out yet but I have been waiting a long time.

of that 9,000, I’m willing to bet there are many who don’t have their Pre-reqs done and many who don’t have ANY GE’s. Also, there may be many who have bad grades.

It does seem odd how successful this board is with acceptances and SGR’s.

I actually met someone in Admissions there before, and they said that the transfer admissions is highly based upon the amount of GE’s you’ve done and that those attending 4 yr. institutions have a little advantage, because they expect your GPA to be lower and you probably won’t have all the GE’s done. I was told a 3.5 at a 4 yr. is competitive. They expect the Community College kids to be much higher. That’s why you see a lot of kids on here with 4.0 GPAs. Many of them don’t attend 4 yr. schools. I also told her that I only would have 2 of the GE’s done, and they said that was competitive too, because I go to a 4 yr. and “they are not going to prepare you to transfer. At Community Colleges, they prepare you to transfer, so we expect those kids to have probably all the GEs done.”

if one more person asks if an enrollment deposit box is good ima flip. seriously if you dont have enough common sense to figure out that one im amazed u got one in the first place. no offense but i have hard time tolerating lack of common sense

@jr… Lol

the first few time it was cool but now its like really? look the through the dam thread

@frankbot sadly that is true im 4.0 with all prereqs from cali cc and got rejected from a top 20 U … so … GPA from a CC doesn’t mean shiat i guess =[
@jr2013 damn man im still waiting my audit report to turn blue … its still all red marks -_-" plus my stats were kinda similar to yours … only gives me more hope … which is not good lmao

I think most of the people on here really plan out and work towards the schools they wan to get into…that’s probably why so many of them get accepted or SGRs

@USCHopefull 11. I agree completely. We all PLANNED this, so that will be apparent through our amount of GEs and high GPAs. Kids who haphazardly apply to schools like USC with <3.0 GPAs & no GEs are automatically on the chopping block to begin with. When you cut off that “fat”, you get the most competitive applicants. Probably everyone in here is considered a “competitive” applicant.

Yeah I’m pretty sure our stats aren’t a coincidence lol

Exactly. For every kid who has a 3.9, there are surely some kids who have 2.5’s. Therefore, those kids have much more to worry about than most of us do.

@JR agreed. seriously…

USC would not take their time to change your USC connect if you didnt get in. that would be a waste of their time. so relax you got in. just wait for the official acceptance in the mail.

there’s no reason to worry or to get ‘chanced’ when none of us has control. you either did your best or you didnt. no changing that now haha

@coreyalexander2 I really hope you’re right. I’m from a 4 year haha.

@tomred no I don’t think your SGR means nothing. they didn’t say they encourage everyone, just that people can send them in regardless. many people (including us until now) probably don’t even know that, so they probably don’t get a lot of people who send grades in without an SGR, which is why they can say that. but notice they don’t actually announce that everyone should send spring grades in regardless of an SGR. otherwise what would be the point of taking the trouble to send out SGRs if they wanted everyone to send spring grades in?

btw no need to be harsh on people with enrollment boxes still asking. we’re all on edge here, it’s understandable people would still be paranoid.

My GPA has dropped from 3.8 to 3.6 because of this semester, am I going to get rejected?
