Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

@anyone that got accepted: Does the condition of 3.5 GPA for spring mean a 3.5 on the spring courses or a Cumulative of 3.5 by end of spring ?

@Transfer But you are admitted and that’s what we are looking for.

No one I know at my current school even uses our degree audit system besides to verify they are taking the right courses anyways.

oasis can determine something if the changes are significant like a filled out major and courses you need to take.

Also I’m kind of confused where you guys are seeing the 3.5 in the conditions of admissions … mine is only saying
Conditions of admission:

"Please remember that your admission is contingent upon verification of official academic records, satisfactory completion of course work, and avoidance of academic and behavioral misconduct.

We encourage to explore variety of fields but changing majors requires approval of school or department blah blah blah

The transfer class level listed above is based on the number of blah blah blah …"

@Transfer2OI3 I also have that same question. Not sure if it’s just current in progress or overall.

@alaintran9 you also have 4.0 right ? I called admissions not my regional counselors cause i think they’re annoyed of me lol but the admissions told me after looking at my file that if I just don’t get below C I’m in … so I guess its overall GPA and not getting arrested or cheating ? lol

In yalls letters does it say anything about how many applicants there were or anything?

@Transfer2OI3 I have a 3.9. Yeah it makes sense if it’s overall gpa.
@tomred I did not say how many applicants there were. At least not on my PDF acceptance letter. I have yet to receive the overall package in the mail.

See* Not ‘say’ lol

Hey Alain, I’m curious what CC did you attend?

IVC. How about you?

oh nice! I’m attending Chapman right now haha

Gotcha! I just got accepted there a couple weeks ago and my sister currently goes there right now.

The Vietnamese community at Chapman is very very small. I wonder if i know her LOL

@alaintrain just wondering if you took honors classes at ivc?..i have a feeling that I’m going to be taking the transfer route to usc too and wanna know the fastest and best way to get there! any advice would be great

I applied to Chapman too! Still waiting to hear back from both schools. Oh, the pain of being a film production major…

@rimthegreen Thank you!! I was not required to send my SAT scores, however, I still had to send my high school scores because it is required. I didn’t sweat it too much though because my counselor insured me that they DO NOT look to your high school transcript if you have 30+ units (and I had 34 at time of applying). As far as being admitted as a sophomore…through my college transcript they can see that I take 18+ units a semester. Therefore, I think they were pretty condfident that I would hit junior status apon completing my first semester! I hope this answered your question! Remember, USC is not a public university, they really look at you as an individual and they consider your personal circumstances.

@tomred its in the packet it says about 48000 applied and like 2500 accepted ? something like ~5%

You will be a part of the 2800 members out of the 48000 applicants

48k people applied to transfer to USC? That’s a little high in my opinion, but who knows.

That would be about 600% (quite roughly) jump from applications last year.
