Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

@shelbydwhite thank you so so much! I can now sleep a little better at least until the end of May LOL!!

@fromsctola haha i see i just never understood why so many people choose USC for psych when there’s UCLA and cal. My friend just got accepted to UCLA and he made some good points especially the fact that an undergrad don’t mean jack for psych and that mainly at least masters preferably doctorates should be pursued. If so then why spent so much money for an undergrad and lower ranking at USC? but i guess that’s cause he want’s to go Stanford for grad and doctorates lol. However, GLUCK! FIght on!

Can people who got accepted to Marshall write their stats please:)

@shelby i was accepted last year, but was unable to go and reapplied this year. I remember being notified for Critical Studies last year around may 29th. Do you happen to know if it would be around the same time this year? its a rough wait lol

Does anyone know when Crit Studies will be given out? Im guessing since Production is being sent out this week, hopefully Crit Studies will be the same or soon after?

i am a Dornsife applicant and haven’t hear anything yet. No SGR. Should i be worry?

@Joe stats?

3.81 ,
Apply as a Junior
72 units completed
Extracurricular: worked at Cerro Tololo Inter American Observatory in Chile and helped Monsanto sell GMO seeds to small farmers in Chile.

I think my change are pretty damn slim. I just wish i can be a Trojan and helped them to become more recognizable global institutions. since they already have over 300,000 alumni from 6 continents. Feel like if they rejected me, they’re making a BIG MISTAKE!!!

Monsanto is evil, though.

@ RandomNewGuy I know. They manipulate organic seeds and lobbied a lot of money to veto prop. 37 in California. You know. A lot of corn growers used their seeds. I just think that writing Monsanto on my application was a little skeptical because of their reputation. And since a lot of people working in the Admission office have liberal views and doesn’t want a narcissistic personality in their campus. :frowning: I AM DOOMEED

Anybody know if other SCA majors will start to hear back this week? Like Animation, critical studies, game design, etc

@joebsk… Honestly, while I love USC, it has kind of a reputation of being an institution that pumps out highly successful and competitive individuals that don’t necessarily shy away from getting a little dirty. I don’t think listing Monsanto will hurt you, unless you were gunning some kind environmental sustainability degree or something.

Your work with Monsanto will likely help you, as it highlights your ability to work with a giant, evil conglomerate. Giant, evil conglomerates make for good employers of undergraduates, y’know.

@sweeeeettx - SGR’s don’t always have to be related to GPA. They often ask for one if you are on the verge of completing the credits necessary to be accepted into the school you applied for, or they want to make sure that you complete your pre-reqs.

Does anybody know how the deposit waiver works? Do we still pay the deposit and, if accepted, we get refunded?

@ RandomNewGuy They have a reputation for being evil same thing with Fox News owned by Ruppert Murdoch. And I am pretty sure that a lot of Annenberg internship at Fox News or Fox studios and i dont think that they really care about their conservative reputation. They just want an internship. I was luck to worked with Monsanto because of connection. I was able to talked to alot of different people, learned how globalization is reshaping Western and where the global growth is coming from in the next fews years.

I wrote in my essay that i will contribute some thing to the campus but also continuing to provide USC reputation all over the world by wearing some USC gear or bring a USC flag. :)

Any acceptances today? And if so, what majors/schools?

@joebsk… That sounds like a strong application. Good luck, man.

My essay was two-pages of me nitpicking Tony Stark’s Mark XLII armor in “Iron Man 3,” because I simply cannot understand how his armor melts like butter from the heat of Extremis-powered antagonists, but can easily repel lasers fired by the invading alien forces in “The Avengers.”

This is probably the greatest debate of our time and Disney’s failure to address this plothole threatens economic stability for global markets.

Alright applicants, I felt someone had to start the decision thread.

Please spread the word so we can start seeing some results!

SGRr’d on may 1st, faxed grades on may 13th… How long do guys think I’ll have to wait for my dornsife decision? Give me some guesstimates…

@tomred My guess is the first couple weeks of June. Don’t take my word though lol
