Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

SGR 4/29 - My stats and thoughts are on the dedicated stats thread.

@hopefultrojan9 nope. In previous years some freshmen got accepted without an SGR. I feel like the more information that was included in your application + the school you applied to could be the reason why many have already heard back and many others haven’t. Think about it, it takes longer to even get through an app that has letters of rec, an art component, multiple EC’s, special circumstances, etc. than an app with just essays and grades. I don’t know what the anatomy of everyone’s applications so far so I’m just speculating here.

@fayano‌ , @bballprofessor23‌ good to know there are other applicants out there haha. Definitely not many. But I am transferring from Bryant University and I had a 3.67 first semester. And will have 30 units by end of spring. Let’s all keep in touch and keep each other posted about if we get SGRs, accepted, etc.

Hmm I didn’t get an sgr (junior transfer) and I do not expect to get one. I am only taking one class this semester and I have gotten all A’s since my second semester in cc so I think they don’t need one. Its understandable a lot of sophomore applicants are getting them because they don’t have as many classes under their belt for usc to confidently predict how useful they will be at their university.

I applied to Annenberg too. I’m hoping they consider me a junior even though I will have only 45 credits completed; since I’ll have finished all the Gen Eds.

Oh god. I did not get an SGR yet. Starting to sweat bullets now. Has anyone applying to Marshall received an SGR?

can someone please explain me the whole class registration thing and how it works? I see people who have applied are adding classes to their basket and all but I don’t get what you’re saying

@bobo79 a few have

@fayano Yep. Pretty sure that’s where I’ll be going if rejected. Definitely not a bad school to have as a backup. And their accounting program is only 75 people which is awesome and there’s good recruitment! Have you been to the campus? It’s like a country club haha.

@bomerr Yea, Chapman is really nice. Seems like all the students get a lot of personal attention. Not a bad place to be at all. My only concern there is it sounds like on campus housing is limited for transfers, and the campus is so small which would be a big adjustment for me.

@hopefultrojan9‌ thanks man. Same to you.

I got my SGR yesterday and GPA 4.0

@Ftgirl Yikes! Are you from CC or University?

I got my SGR yesterday and GPA 4.0

Are you a sophmore or junior transfer?

@bobo79 I feel your pain! This is torture. I applied to Marshall as a junior transfer and have received no word yet at all. My CC GPA is 3.91 but my “transfer GPA” is 3.5 (since USC considers both grades if you retake a course). I have had straight A’s for the last 4 semesters so I’m not sure if they will give me a SGR, but I’m also taking my second semester of calculus right now, so maybe. Good luck to us all!

@USCTransfer28, @fayano-- Do you guys think the apparent small number of applicants to Price boosts or hurts our chances?

@bomerr I go to chapman! I absolutely love it! They have really a really good film program as well as business and physical therapy. The only reason I’m transferring is that they don’t have my major I want and the research for it. I want to be a neuroscience major and they aren’t really good with pre-med stuff :confused:
There’s housing. It’s more of how much you are willing to spend thing because some are more expensive than others, but there’s room. It’s kinda small but it’s not that bad. People go to USC all the time to party (I have friends that go for their boyfriends and such every weekend), and it’s nice because it provides an environment where you can focus and it’s not crazy 24/7. USC is only a 40 min drive so it’s so close.

@bballprofessor23‌ It definitely doesn’t hurt because I feel like Price allocates a certain number of spots for transfers, so if less people apply I think our chances could only be boosted. Not completely sure though, just my opinion

@USCTransfer28- What are your stats? And what pre-reqs/GE’s have you completed?

@jack2011
@‌natalie41

I live in OC so I will commute to chapman, housing is not an issue. Also Chapman will give me a 12k scholarship so it’s going to be 20-25k cheaper than USC each year.

I went to Marshall today and spoke with the students, professors, and sit in a few classes. It’s a long story but, unless the financial aid package is nice, I have decided to not attend.

As for partying at USC, I hear unless you are in a frat, the social scene isn’t that great.
