Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

I haven’t seen many SCA applicants in general on the thread. I am a male but I do think there should be more female applicants to SCA. I am really interested to hear if any SCA applicants heard back yet. I know it’s still very early, but being one of the last schools to send out replies makes the wait that much more unbearable.

I am an SCA applicant! But not a female. Do you guys know the acceptance rate for SCA external transfers? I heard there are about 200 applicants, and only accept 30? (So 15% acceptance rate?) They need to accept 30 because that’s the size of their anticipated transfer classroom size. (Or is it a 15 internal transfer/15 external transfer class)?

About the SGR debate, SGRs are also sent out to sophomores who haven’t finished a full academic year, who aren’t event competing with the junior applicants. For sophomore transfers, I doubt it is such a bad thing to be asked for spring grades because it only makes sense for a top university to take students who they are sure will be able to succeed in rigorous classes. In that sense, yes, it is about getting the best grades in hard classes.

SGRs ARE NOT BAD. Neither can we say that SGR is a waitlist since we aren’t ranked against each other.

I believe its a total of 75 Crit Studies, 50 Production, 26 Screenwriting, 26 animation and 15 Interactive Media majors. They base the number of transfers admitted on space available. So the number of people graduating, dropping the major, or leaving USC is taken into account. I think those numbers are the set amount of students they can have at once. So if they admit 30 or so freshman into the production program, there are 20 spots available for transfers.

@fadumbear Oh, well that is useful information. But I feel like there is some kind of quota for transfers still. Because if they accept 50 freshmen, the transfer rate would be 0%, and that’s not very fair…Anyways, needless to say, SCA is highly competitive.

For anyone who has been accepted by USC so far, has your request to be added to the 2014 Transfer Admit page been accepted yet? It says my request is still pending.

I can’t even log in to OASIS? Can anyone explain how to get their password and everything? I understand I have to use my USCID# but after that I have no idea…

ALSO, is it possible to hear back earlier than July 15th if you got a SGR? My semester finishes May 23rd and Final Second Semester Grades will be “official” by June 1st. I already submitted an order request for my Transcript to be sent to USC as soon as they’re released- could I hear back within the month of June?

Thanks!

Oasis password is your birthday MM/DD/YY. Year is the last two digits of the year you were born in and don’t forget zeros. For example if you were born August 9, 1993, you would write 080993

@fadumbear‌ Every time I do this I keep getting this message:
You have entered an invalid USC ID / Pin

any other ways?

You may have entered Oasis before and did not remembered that you changed your password. So just try common passwords that you usually use. Also don’t use Firefox or Safari, this happened to me too, and I just tried to enter on chrome and it worked fine.

@Karlos I think so! You’re graph is there and it says your major, so you’re in! Congratulations!

@scahopeful I’m a female SCA applicant (Dornsife applicant as well). I applied to the Media Arts and Practice program. You’re not alone on here!

@scahopeful‌ @sielburt‌ I too am a female SCA applicant. I applied for the Film & Television Production program.

Also, @scahopeful‌ @sielburt‌ did either of you have interviews on the phone or otherwise?

Do only the people SCA considers as strong candidates get phone interviews or can you be admitted without one?

Going to bed now because I have a final tomorrow morning. However, a bunch of acceptances should be coming out this week! Good luck everyone - may the odds be in your favor!

I’ve heard people get in without phone interviews, but I’m pretty sure if you get a phone interview you’re essentially set. I’m also a Film&TV applicant.

I am also a female applicant to SCA interactive media, so far nothing for me, no phone interview, no SGR, can’t log in OASIS, meh…

I actually haven’t heard of any transfers getting phone interviews besides one. Only people I know who have gotten one were freshmen and the ones who received more positive sounding feedback (something like "we like you but we must make sure of ____ ") were ironically rejected (though a a very small amount didn’t say whether they got accepted or rejected so they could’ve been accepted) and people with negative sounding interviews (the interviewer sounded indifferent/unimpressed) or the people who didn’t get interviews at all were ironically admitted into the school (of course a few were rejected but you’d expect them all to be rejected after the way they described their interviews). That is just my experience if course. So, if regardless of whether or not you get an interview, don’t panic. It’s SCA so yeah…

My STARS Audit Report says this:

"ER02W: ???
–>ERROR: BQ03S: NO REQUIREMENTS FOR DEGREE PROGRAM
STARS TERMINATED (SEE REASON ABOVE). CONTACT DEGREE PROGRESS. "

Obviously it’s not a sign of admission, but does anyone else see this on their page? The word “terminated” makes me uneasy… like it was there before but they rejected me and now it’s “terminated.” Thoughts?
