Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

@manofalltrades‌ I don’t think there are any of Music Majors on here. Don’t worry about oasis, according to admin we are not eve suppose to be able to log in and some accepted students still can’t access it.

Stats: Didn’t submit SAT or ACT
Transferring in with about 70 units completed
Cum. GPA when applied: 3.81
Cum. GPA when they requested fall grades: 3.62
Essay: Great. My father is an alumni, so I tied that into my essay.
Extracurriculars: I work 30 hours a week in addition to school full time. I also volunteer about 10-15 hours a week.
Experience: I have worked in the Music Industry for a few years in positions ranging from production management, venue management, audio engineer, lighting director, video operator, and stage hand. I have worked with the following bands: We The Kings, The Temptations, Kellie Pickler, Tenth Avenue North, Sanctus Real, Tracy Morgan, Charlie Daniels Band, Fog Hat, Tower of Power, Blue Oyster Cult, Rick Springfield, Morris Day, Hoobastank, Salt and Pepa, and may others (About 40 total).

What are your stats?

My a

When I called admissions today, they told me a big wave of decisions will be coming out next week! Just sharing with you all .

Thank you for sharing @maymonroe94‌

For Marshall applicants that already got in, do you have a CDP (if you’re from a CCC and have looked at the articulation agreement) next to your financial / managerial Accounting classes? I’ve talked to a counselor awhile back and they said I might not even receive credit for them. That’s 15 quarter units (Financial Accounting was split into two quarters) down the drain! That’s an extra 10 semester units I may have to make up.

Does anyone know when USC gives out their Financial Aid information? I received mine from the UC Schools in a week after I was accepted, I was wondering if USC is somewhat similar.

@joshpick‌ Nice stats, man! Sounds like you’ve got a great chance.

My stats:

Upwards of 30 units or so completed (unsure of how many will be transferable)
GPA: 3.9 at time of application, looking to be 4.0 this semester
Essay: Feel great about it. Detailed how I’d be perfect for the Popular Music program.
Extracurriculars: Currently teach at two music stores/schools in my area. Hold a residency gig at a venue in LA. Gig regularly as a session player/hired gun.
Experience: Lots. (Includes what I detailed above.) Went on a few national tours with an original group. Taught during the summer at a high school in my county a while back. Played/studied with some really heavy players in the industry (many of whom are connected with the Thornton faculty). Own a full in-home studio for remote sessions. Those are a few of the highlights.

SO, it seems like no one has gotten a straight up rejection yet…

Isn’t that a little bit odd? Wouldn’t USC want to reject a few transfer applicants if they think they aren’t strong enough instead of having a huge pool of SGRed kids’ applications that they will need to review again in June?

@anyabel Rejections always come last

I’m kind of nervous… I haven’t received an SGR or anything regarding admissions. I wonder if it’s because Annenberg is one of the last to release decisions? Whatever the case, I’m freaking out!

Is anyone willing to chance me?

I’m right there with you @LAboundgirl and I need to know ASAP because I got into Northeastern, Temple and BU and those schools want deposits and such soon

Your lives are all over!!! Hahahahahaha!!! Let that anxiety sizzle!!!

Should I even worry myself? I probably may get rejected I only have a 3 2-3.4 I just feel my chance is unrealistic. Only way I can gain admission I feel is through my essays and letters of recommendation. I’m just remaining hopeful…
I don’t know if I’m just wasting my time…everyone that got accepted had 3.7+ gpa. Please usc accept me…

Hi, first time posting here! I was wondering if anyone had the same problem with me. I submitted my winter transcripts on 4/23 (that was when I got an email requesting it) and it still says im missing the winter transcript on the application status page of usconnect. However in the admission document page it says it has been received!

Also I haven’t received a SGR or anything from USC in a while ( applied to marshall school of business) my star audit shows only an error with eng 140 I was wondering if anyone was in my position?

my stats are
school: UCR
GPA: 3.85 (including winter transc) 3.76(without winter transcript)
wrote a decent essay/ few ECs nothing amazing/ no letter reccomendation
finished all pre reqs
about 80-90 units

Has anyone gotten into USC but been declined to the specific major they wanted? I am trying to transfer in with 30 units and applied to Annenberg. I am worried that because it is one of the more challenging schools to get into that I might get declined. I would be more than fine with getting accepted without a major…

Have any Viterbi applicants been accepted yet? Seem like mostly Marshall and Dorns.

@whamson‌ When you filled out the common app form, there should be a second choice major. Did you make both first and second choose within Annenberg?

Does anyone know what happens to your CC GPA once you attend USC? Will it carry on with you into USC or will you start over and have a new GPA? Also, any insight on whether or not SGR’S indicate that SC is holding the applicant’s spot?

@LAboundgirl Don’t worry, you’ll probably get your decision soon. I am another Annenberg applicant and got my SGR yesterday.
