Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

If USC sees what classes we are taking on the common app and still requests and SGR then that means they have already taken into account the rigor of your classes right?

I’m asking because I listed that I was only taking three classes this semester on the common app and I still got an SGR even though I’ve read that they want full time students so I panicked lol

Hey guys :)

I’ve been keeping up with this thread for a couple weeks now but have not seen anyone mention anything about W’s. Is it totally unheard of for someone to gain admission into Marshall if they have a W in business calc?

At the time of applying I had 63 units completed and a GPA of 3.78

I retook business calc and unfortunately received a B :(( but I received A’s in both financial and managerial accounting…

Even though I mentioned the reasons for withdrawing from the class in my personal statements I feel like it is going to be the deal breaker for me

@uscvibes14 I am sure they won’t be harsh about one W, they will see how you are as an overall student! PLus a 3.78 is a great GPA!

I’ve heard in the past that W’s are only bad if you have a lot of them. If you only have one, that indicates that you most likely had a sufficient reason behind it.

USCTransfer28-- Congratulations man! I hope so, this spring quarter is definitely my toughest work-load and I few my GPA may dip significantly.

My STARS report is filled out! For those of you who have been accepted, how many days after your report being filled out did you receive your letter or pdf of acceptance?

@manofalltrades‌ Nice! For people like us, a large part of acceptance is our experience in the industry. I also forgot to mention my letter of rec. I got one from Ed Roski Jr. (the guy who USC’s Roski School of Fine Arts is named after)

@joshpick congrats!

I really wish I had access to oasis to check my STARS report, it sucks that I can’t even log on.

@joshpick congrats!!! what’s your major and what college did you apply as?

@finefreshfierce‌ Yes sure!

Entering as: Junior
[] GPA: 3.66 (Low, I know) but 4.0 this semester
[] Units completed: 50
[] Units in progress: 13
[] Pre-reqs completed: all
[] GEs completed: all not but not all of the language requirement… :-S
[] ECs: not too many unfortunately…I’ve been going to school and working full time
[] Job/Work Experience: 40 hours a week doing marketing for a small business
[] Essays (subject and responses): pretty good
[*] Letters of Recommendation: one from my english professor

@NCXfer‌ I believe you’ll be fine applying with more but they just won’t accept all your credits towards journalism. They will probably accept up to 36!

For those who has their Star report fill out.

Does yours look like this?

Does your have credits fill out? Mine is still 0 earn for a while now

@fadumbear @olo59u @mlos2k14 Yes, everybody has that happen to them. Unknown as to why but it is not an indication of acceptance or rejection. Since it happens to everyone’s USconnect, it doesn’t mean anything.

@hopeformarshall Thanks, one of the writing classes is back in my list…I’m guessing they are tinkering with the system.

Does anyone know how much SCA takes into account grades vs talent?

@uscindian Bro, I think you need to relax. I think you know the answer to those questions already; USC takes into account course load and recommends transfer applicants to mimic the same full-time course progress as USC students. Having said that, USC also mentions they look at the whole picture. So the short answer is “YES, they take rigor into account.” The real answer is “No one knows.” It’s a bummer, I know. Maybe thats why they want additional information from you to better gauge the entire “rigor” of your courses. good luck.

hello everyone. i called admissions today and the person told me it is most likely my decision would be in the last week of may :expressionless: i really don’t want to put a deposit down!! but i need housing :stuck_out_tongue: the deposit is the same amt as usc D:

also for those of you who had course(s) in your cart, what do you think this means? i had a course in my cart and i just checked it right now…nothing changed but it says fall 2014. i really don’t want to get excited over anything :x

@iloveasianguys i agree with you. one of my school payment is due on Monday, but I want to wait for USC decision… :frowning:
Also, I think it means nothing. I have WRIT 140 fall 2014. It’s keep changing to fall 2012 to 2013 to 2014. But I don’t think it means anything.

Does anyone have an idea of when SCA’s decisions will come out?
