Part of the the area around usc, like in many areas is not great. I live in San Diego and there are also some not so great areas among a lot of great ones. Just like in other areas, there are good and bad parts, and you just have to use good judgement and be smart on where to go and where not to go alone. It’s also not too far from the staple center and a metro stops right basically on campus, that can take you to a lot of other places.

@mochabubble Not really. Only one student in this forum has mentioned his acceptance to Viterbi, but he was doing a 3-2 program, so it was a special case. Hopefully we’ll find out this week.

It would be nice if we could get some numbers regarding applications and spots available for Marshall, just as how @JR2013 got application stats for Annenberg.

So today I get home and my dad is like “You have a letter from that school” and I said “Well is it yellow or white?” and he said “White” so I thought I has been rejected already, but the I got home to find out that it was just paperwork from my job and had nothing to do with USC -__- Nice going there dad.

Got an SGR this afternoon on Connect (Junior Marshall applicant). I was sort of expecting this since my 2nd calc course is currently in progress. I’ll post stats later on the Decisions thread.

I just talked to admissions at SCA and they said all decisions were sent today. They will be received by mail before updated on Connect.

Good luck SCA folks!

@scahopeful My Films teacher went to USC in the 80’s I believe? She nonchalantly told me she witnessed someone getting shot in the parking lot lol

@SCstang thank you for sharing the info! Now I’m crazy excited and anxious. Good luck to all the SCA applicants!

Is getting accepted into your second choice major but rejected into your first choice common?

I got in last Thursday to the Marshall School of Business as a pre-accounting major. I am currently attending the University of South Florida and had a 3.96 GPA. I did not receive any spring grade requests or any additional information from USC.

Good luck to everyone!! FIGHT ON!

@scstang Does that mean acceptances AND rejections are sent out? Or just acceptances? In other words, if I don’t receive anything in a couple days, should I be worried?

@greengecko I’m not sure. I assume its everything, but it might not hurt to check tomorrow.

@hepburn95 I’m just saying in general. And there’s more to white collar crime than identity theft (which, arguably, isn’t a white collar crime). For example, the case with GM I referenced. 13 people were killed (possibly more) because the corporate exec’s at GM didn’t want to spend an extra few dollars per car. Bayer manufactured medicine that was infected with the AIDS disease and still sold it to people in other countries because they didn’t want to use a few dollars taking it off the shelf. They got away with it because they are corporations. Most, if not all, white collar crimes like this end in death (we’re talking in the hundreds and thousands here). I think that’s why people are more afraid of street crime because it’s easier to put a face with it vs. white-collar crime where an entire company is at fault. I don’t want to be shot, infected with disease, or die an immediate death from defective products that were negligently sold to me.

On the subject of danger at USC, I was trying to understand what people meant by “bad” area. I’ve heard mixed opinions from everyone so this is all very interesting to me.

@Spiffyboi I’m sure LA in the '80s (much like Chicago and New York) was a very dangerous place. It was a scary time.

Guys guys guys! I’ve just been SGR’d :/

@shayda12 Congrats. I was accepted into Marshall last Thur too. And I didn’t get SPR either. So i guess SPR is not that important for they to see, probably. But my gpa isn’t competitive as yours. Did you read your admission from connect or admission packet? Have you noticed any admission conditions? Are the conditions the same in connect as in the admission packet? I called the office today and they said they don’t know for sure. This is a little ridiculous. What if my admission packet arrives tomorrow requiring me GPA to be higher than 3.5, which i definitely can’t make it? cuz a lot of people got this. I was already rescinded by UCLA. Just can’t afford to lose USC now. Admission conditions are so disgusting.

ANY VITERBI APPLICANTS HEAR BACK YET??? Mech. Eng major, No SGR yet either

@blackmamba2014 So far, there’s only been one reported Viterbi notification on here (acceptance), and that was because they apparently were on a plan of sorts. Don’t worry Kobe, you’ve still got plenty of time.

Dornsife/ Psych major… dying slowly.

I keep bothering all of my professors about submitting grades rapidly… I feel the wait for school to be over is worse than the wait before I got a SGR!!
