Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

Can you guys specify your majors( those that got into SCA ) thank you

[size=4][color=red]Just another friendly reminder to please post your decision and stats here: <a href=“USC Transfer Decisions 2014 - Transfer Students - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1645573-usc-transfer-decisions-2014.html</a></p>

@ianbernas applied for Critical Studies within SCA.

@lanbernas stats?

Anyone receive any financial aid information? When do you think we will receive it? I am particularly wondering about merit aid, not need-based aid. Thank you.

Any animation majors or fine arts hear back?

Did anyone else delete their Facebook account, just to be safe? I am wondering if USC admissions will frown upon that, and also, admissions always advise to connect on facebook with certain groups and such…so not sure what to do

@plaurance94‌ Huh? I don’t understand… why would you delete your Facebook account “just to be safe?” Safe against what? Why would USC admissions care one way or the other?

@plaurance94‌ Is there anything on your Facebook that is actually incriminating? I don’t put anything on there that I don’t want any school/employer to see anyway. If not, just reactivate it. I really doubt that they will ■■■■■ through the Facebooks of thousands of potential students.

@plaurance94‌ I’ve had mine deactivated, but not for that reason. They don’t ask for your Facebook URL on the application… Not that I have anything to hide, but it’s additional information they didn’t ask for and as far as I’m concerned (regardless of the reason), it shouldn’t matter to admissions whether it is or isn’t activated.

How are you guys accessing OASIS? I tried my USC ID and my birthdate (mm/dd/yy) as the password, but it doesn’t seem to be working.

@keepfighting1 If you can’t access it using any of the password formats then that’s okay. You shouldn’t worry about it.

Do you guys think there’s a big difference in the students USC decides to SGR in early May and late May? I was SGRd a week ago and USC says they SGR students up to June.

@scahopeful‌ Would that be a negative indicator then for admission? I got a SGR May 3rd but haven’t sent my grades in yet as I don’t finish spring quarter until mid-June.

@keepfighting1 No. I said in my post it doesn’t matter. Lots of people who got accepted in previous years couldn’t access it. Access to OASIS is NOT an indicator of admission. I repeat, it IS NOT an indicator of admission.

If you, for some reason, cannot access OASIS, do not worry about it. It’s not a big deal and access alone literally means nothing.

@dmdwelle‌

I’d take into consideration that it might take you between 2-4 years to get your UC degree, even with a junior transfer. I know people who can’t get classes, and are typically on top of trying to be on track. So I might factor that into your decision.

@dmdwelle I am in the same situation like you. USC is expensive but the resources and network you will get from USC is to die for. I am sure everyone is worry over FA after knowing they get admitted. If UCSD is your option, it’s a good school. UCSD is known for their econ department. I am thinking of going to SD but i don’t want my major to be econ. And SD doesn’t have accounting or business other than management science and econ.

@5nonnegotiables‌ Are you saying that going to UC San Diego might take 2-4 years total, or 2-4 years longer than USC? From what I’ve read I figure I would probably need to be at USC for like three years minimum anyway, even going in with ~70 units. There are just too many upper division classes to comfortably squeeze in to 2 years.

@HeavenlyForest‌ As an undergrad you cannot major in Accounting or Business at UC San Diego, but they actually do offer undergrad minors in both (through the Rady School of Management). It’s not exactly what I want, but I sort of feel that it could make me more well-rounded if I go on to get an MBA. That way I would have degrees in both Econ and Business, instead of just Business.

transfer student coming from out of state
Do you think university housing or apartment style is better?
Also what percentage of transfers do you think use university housing?

Does anyone know if there is any difference in receiving a SGR earlier rather than later?
