Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

@greengecko‌ thank you!

@scahopeful‌ Nope, no SGR. That’s the only change I’ve had since I sent in my app. I’d be surprised if I got one. I have well over 80+units from my 2yrs at a 4-yr plus the 2 I’ve spent at my CC. I believe they have enough academic information on me to make a straight decision.

Any Dornsife/Psych major heard back anything…? SGR? Acceptance? Rejection? Anything!? I’m just going to let go and have a peaceful mind about this since I didn’t hear anything back from USC… even SGR.

@HopeForMarshall‌ I feel you on that one, everyone asking, teachers, friends, counselours, the lady at financial aid, I should start charging. :-bd

Not knowing at this point is critical for me, I have the conviction that I am worthy of acceptance , but have other plans in case of not getting in and that includes taking classes this summer(yes I know I can enroll now and then drop later but it is not a viable option for me).

@CrownOftheSea‌ It took you 5 semesters with approximately 16 units a semester to graduate? Just wondering, but did you complete all the GE’s at your former college?

Hello everyone! I am still waiting to hear from USC (Marshall) and recently bumped into this thread. I tried following a few pages, but can’t possibly go through 250+ pages. I had basically a couple of questions, and hope some kind soul can answer these:

Has anyone heard from Marshall yet – acceptances/rejections/both?

Is there any way to possibly gauge my acceptance chances through some housing or other portal that might give some hints?

Thanks and good luck to all waiting. :)

Had a change in my restrictions today…

@banker92 There have been some acceptances and SGRs but no rejections. If you look at last years thread, you notice that they come in waves. So far there has only been one initial wave with a couple scattered here and there.

@banker92‌ there have been many acceptances and SGR’s for Marshall. Check this thread for decisions:

Thanks @transfer919191‌ and @dmdwelle‌ – I haven’t even heard for SGR! In fact I haven’t received any communication since the confirmation email. Ohh snap! I tried calling them and there seems to be an infinite wait time today. I already waited like 15 mins on an international call but no aid!

Anyway, what is this OASIS access people talk of? An access to that would imply an acceptance is in order or only accepted people have access to that?

@HopeForMarshall‌ I asked USC admission assistant director through email

@banker92 Oasis access doesn’t necessarily mean anything. It is a portal that allows people to view their academic progress at USC as well as financial aid. Many applicants have access to this portal - we don’t know why some do and some don’t. There is an option to look at a STARS academic report, if that report is filled out it would be a positive sign. If it is not, then it doesn’t really mean too much.

@banker92‌ OASIS is a web portal that USC students & administrators can use to track degree progress, among other things. In order to log in you would use your USC ID for the username and your birth date for the password. (For most people is is MMDDYY or MMDDYYYY format, I think). Many people have reported not being able to log on at all, but it doesn’t really matter anyway since there is nothing that you can use it for at this point.

Most people who have been accepted noticed that the “STARS Interactive Audit Report” section of the portal becomes populated with certain information, such as your major, prior to receiving notification of their acceptance. So the generally accepted theory at this point is that if you see this section filled out, good news will soon follow.

You can check for yourself here: https://camel2.usc.edu/OASIS/</a></p>

so am i supposed to see my transfer courses in the stars report or will that update once i enroll or do i need to ask for a transfer report?

@Ngarcia3‌ really? Even thought the classes are transferable?

@MarshallUSC2014‌ Check this out: <a href=“Home - USC Marshall”>Home - USC Marshall;

You can see which courses are required for the major so give you an idea of how long it would take you. In my case, there are no business courses at the community college level that satisfy the major reqs.

You can also go to <a href=“USC-Articulation Agreement”>Error; and look at course-to-course equivalents to find out if your school offers courses that will satisfy major reqs.

I got in to SCA for Film Production!

OASIS being filled out was a good sign after all. No change on USConnect so I can’t put my deposit down yet but I got my wonderful acceptance package in the mail today.

Have hope and I wish you luck as you all wait to hear back.

@Spiffyb0i‌ I only had 2 of the 6 GEs done when I transferred in. However, even if I had all the GEs done I would still needed an extra semester because I was a few classes short to graduate in 4 semesters. I took 18 units a semester 4 of the 5 semesters there.

I would not worry too much about OASIS or STARS you guys. It does not make sense to have a filled out STARS report only to be rejected, because STARS is basically what you check to see your progress towards graduation, and what classes you are still missing or have completed towards that goal. I do not think USC would go through all the trouble of evaluating what classes they will accept and transfer in if they were not going to accept you at all. OASIS is basically the student portal for current USC students. I remember when I applied my STARS report was never filled out before I got accepted. I could log onto OASIS but there was never anything there. I did not find out I got in until the day my packet arrived in the mail.

Oh, and I did not get my acceptance until June 14th, and I was accepted for Fall into Marshall. So I would not worry too much if you do not hear back by June 1st. Keep your hopes up! Even if you got SGR’d, most people who got SGR’d seemed to get accepted after they sent in their grades, assuming there was not a significant drop in performance. At least this was how it was when I transferred in Fall 2011

@stark42 Congratulations! Can I ask, do you live close to the campus - like, in Southern California? I live in Northern California, and I’m curious when I should expect to see my response. I applied for the same major.

@RawShark‌ Thank you! And yes, I do. I live about 45 minutes away from campus. Since the first SCA admit found out yesterday and I found out today (being in Southern California), I would assume you should hear back soon.
