@bobisweird Sure, I can barely remember though haha.

I talked about my job at The Disney Store in the job experience essay question, but I made it into a story. And my personal essay was about how I wanted to help and inspire people through my writing like so many writers have done for me, and then led into how I wanted to work in the video game industry someday I think.

I am stilling waiting to hear a response from USC. Does application submission date have an effect on when they send out their decisions? I submitted my application on 2/18.

@lilmoe2014 My theory is that they go through all the high GPA students first and admit them if they like their essays. Then comes the average GPA students and so on.

@MarshallBound

I doubt it because I have a 4gpa and my IAR barely filled this last weekend along with a restrictions change back from Feb. 4th. Or you are right and they did not like my writting lol. Did you already recieved your acceptance letter?

@fdominguez I should have added that a full workload (12+ unit) also is factored into their decision. So you’re not officially admitted yet? I haven’t even heard anything from USC yet. Don’t know if that is a bad or good sign.

Has anyone who submitted an SGR been rejected yet? I submitted my SGR today with two As and a W (calc 2 , not part of any SC requirements). You guys think I have a good chance? I have 64 credits overall.

Ugh! The waiting is killing me! I have a mini heartattack each day when the mail comes which quickly turns to dread and self doubt.

@tamoorc If you want my input I think that W is going to burn one of those admission officer’s eyes.

@tamoorc I was thinking the same thing that @MarshallBound said… The one thing that stuck with me from the admissions presentation was that they really do not like W’s because it shows a lack of commitment to your coursework. But I hope we’re wrong, for your sake. Keep the faith!

@MarshallBound 14 units in progress as well as 47+4 AP completed units so yeah.

Only my IAR was filled out but have not recieved anything either PDF or Letter so nothing is official or guaranteed.

I think its neutral atleast if your restrictions have not moved, if they have I am not sure what to think of it but to wait and see if the IAR fills out or something.

Hello All,

I have been keeping up with this thread for a while, and like many others, I finally decided to make an account. I applied as a psychology major with a 3.89 GPA, and I was SGR’D. I submitted my grades a few days ago, and when I logged in to OASIS today I noticed my major was filled out, but my start date was 20133. I applied last year, but was not accepted, so I am wondering if that has something to do with it. I would like to upload a picture to get you fellow USC-ans’ opinion. How can I upload a picture to this page?

@MarshallBound @dmdwelle Hmm my friend was accepted to UCLA with 5 Ws. But I guess USC is different. And I withdrew cause the professor was utter crap, I had taken a test 2 weeks before the withdraw deadline and the professor never graded it, so no one in the class had any idea what their grade was.

@FreeByrd27 I have all of my information updated as well. Does the catalogue date or term of entrance say 20133? My catalogue date and term of entrance are different. You can screenshot your STARS IAR, upload the picture to imgur.com and share the link here.

@tamoorc I would say yes. I’m not in a position to say whether or not it will result in a rejection/acceptance but I can tell you that it may not be the best thing for the admissions personnel to see. It’s not really the W as the only reason, it’s the fact that you only had 3 classes and you withdrew from one of them. USC likes to see that you are enrolled full time with as little W’s as possible. One or two (throughout your entire college career) is understandable but more than that or one when you had a small course load is not as favorable as someone with a full course load (enrolled in 12 credit hours/4+ courses). In regards to the UCLA thing, USC =/= UCLA. USC is private and may be a bit more strict in their requirements. Also, I read that the UC’s and CSU’s have more of an obligation to accept transfers from CC’s because of some law or something (I’m not sure if that was true but it’s been talked about multiple times on here).

So, TL;DR it’s not necessarily your W, it’s your W combined with having only 2 classes that could hurt you (unless you have more and only reported your A’s)

@scahopeful, or anyone out there, here goes a link to the picture. What do you guys think this means? and yes my catalogue date says 20133. I’m wondering if its because I applied last year.

@freeByrd27 Welcome to USC :)

USC called me today about sending in my spring grades. I’ve gotten 2 emails asking for them… Anyone else have a similar situation?

@Ngarcia3 thank you!!!
Twice is a charm I guess. I guess if you submit your spring grades before June you get a fast response. Why do you think my catalog year is 20133?

@FreeByrd27 I’m pretty sure you’re admitted. I think your admitted for Spring though.

@freebyrd27 Not necessarily, I sent in my spring grades in May and didnt hear back until July!

@freebyrd27 Yeah, you’re in but you should call when you get your letter for them to change it. Also, I submitted my grades last Tuesday and my OASIS stuff was also updated on Tuesday morning.

@Marshallbound Why do you think that? Spring would have said 20151.

@hepburn95 Have you already sent them in? If so, maybe they didn’t get them or it wasn’t the correct format (as in not a sufficient way to send them in). If not, then that’s why.

@Ngarcia3 Maybe they had more applicants last year? Or your program took a little longer?
