I got the “golden acceptance letter” in the mail!

@bobo79 - Although I should technically be entering as a junior, I will be entering as a sophomore. While this does mean that I will be graduating a year late, I don’t really mind since that means I get to stay at USC for an extra year!

Plus, being in school for an extra year would serve as a great opportunity to graduate well with strong credentials. If I plan this well, I might be able to double major and double minor, especially because my double majors are very closely related.

Also, it is quite strange that they would send the packet to your school, because on my acceptance PDF, it lists my home address. You might want to call USC and notify them of this, and perhaps your school so that you might be able to collect the packet there.

Whelp, I got rejected after submitting my spring grades (4.0) (3.82 cumulative)
Is it worth appealing? I do have new information I can provide (Started my own business, have already done work for big branding agencies)

I think I’m gonna call the office next week. My usconnect shows Facebook groups of fall and spring freshmen., my oasis shows I am freshman and there is no transfer credit in the report. However, I’m pretty sure that I have completed all the calculus and science courses in 2 years for Viterbi. Anyone in the same situation as me?

@runrock It just takes time for them to actually post what classes transfer, and they wait until after you enroll before they work on figuring it out. I’m in the same boat as you right now, and I completed all of the general transferrable requirements for USC (no pre-reqs for Journalism). It’s just gonna be a little bit before they truly establish the amount of units you have and your class standing, so no worries.

Is the USC Sgr a good sign? I’ve asked this before but i don’t think i got a response. I had all As this spring semester btw (marshall transfer). Thank you.

@ccstudentIL This question has been asked and answered like a bazillion times. It is what it is – neither good nor bad. It’s better than a rejection, not as good as an acceptance. If you like, think of it as a wait list; if you did really well in the Spring AND there is room for you at Marshall, they might let you in. No guarantees though because there are a lot of other qualified people with SGR’s.

Does anyone know how to tell what year you are accepted into? I have completed 31 units and was accepted fall! it says current level:freshman on stars so does that mean next year I’ll be considered a sophomore? I know this sounds silly, but I just wanted to make sure!

I just submitted my unofficial transcript on USC connect. Did the people who already got accepted submit their unofficial transcript or official one? When I go to the admission documents tab it still asks me to submit my transcript. Was this like this for a lot of you and will it get updated soon because I got a confirmation receipt and I don’t want to send in the same transcript again if I don’t want to.

I’m just curious how long did it take for you to get a decision back after spring grades were submitted?

@StevieWin I submitted unofficial transcripts. The message continued to appear for a week and shortly thereafter (as in the next day) updates to USC Connect followed. All in all it took about 9 days after the submission of transcripts for me to receive the welcome packet and official notification of admission. Best of luck!

@tamoorc wow that is shocking! I’d for sure appeal, There must not be room in your major. Maybe by the time they read your appeal, some spaces will open up for you. Good luck!!

I didn’t have a 4.0 for my sgr and now I’m worried.

Your transfer credit report will not immediately show everything that transfers or your actual class standing. It will say freshman until they finish evaluating your credits. Don’t worry about it for now. Spring admits, if they still haven’t started evaluating you by August, you could give them a call but I doubt it’d make a difference considering they’d still have 4 more months to evaluate you. Fall admits, if they still haven’t started evaluating you by July, give them a call.

As for right now, it’s not worth getting all bent out of shape over.

Also, remember that USC looks at the total applicant when deciding whether or not to admit. If you’re one of those 4.0 SGRs that got rejected, it’s very likely because of the rigor of your courses. Other reasons may include: not enough space in your program anymore, spring courses didn’t tie in with any of their required courses, they were expecting you to complete some pre req’s required for your program and you did other things (this especially applies to Marshall applicants).

Now SGRs, if you’re wondering why a freshman/sophomore with basically the same stats/subjective info, etc. as you got in and you didn’t, consider this: They can admit more underclassmen because underclassmen don’t have to dive right into a major. Junior- and Senior- standing don’t get evaluated for ‘undecided’. They get evaluated for their first and second choices, of which neither can be ‘undecided’. With that being said, underclassmen can technically get 3 chances while upperclassmen can really only get 2 chances to ‘wow’ admissions. This is understandable considering the length of the major sequence of many programs (typically 2 years).

@scahopeful I think the TCR for USC varies by individual. My credit report was filled out when I was admitted with a Junior standing. Also, When I submitted my spring grades for transfer, I got credit for that course work the same day. I would assume if your CC/Uni has a long standing articulation agreement with USC, your coursework will be evaluated faster.
