For those of you who got in how is transfer financial aide looking? Is it a 60k a year school?

@dmdwelle it sounds like by the time they got your letter, a decision has already been made. So that’s good. I sent mine in late as well, after my April SGR for sure, so i don’t know if they were looked at or not either. Did u apply for financial aid? In usc connect in the finaid section I have a new req doc " ability to benefit verification" form. No idea what it is because when I click nothing happens.

@5nonnegotiables I sent my FAFSA info to USC but that’s it. Do you have to do something else to apply for financial aid? I don’t have any required docs in that section.

@dmdwelle did you send in your CSS profile too?

MY sister is a spring admit. She says she hates USC. She planes to transfer this year to a small liberal arts collge like Smith or Wellesley.

Just to give you guys an idea of USC fin. aid. Idk if they break it down for you somewhere on there website but when you receive your financial aid, this is all listed.

Estimated Cost of Attendance: $64,763
Tuition: $47,562
Mandatory Fees: $718

Estimated Other Costs
An estimate of additional educational costs you may incur while you are enrolled.
Housing: $8,038
Dining: $5,302
Books & Supplies: $1,500
Transportation: $576
Personal & Miscellaneous:$1,000
Other Educational Costs: $67

To give an example of how much financial aid they give… My parents made a combined total of about 62k and I only made about 3k. I received about 40k in gift aid and 14,500 in loans… This is pretty consistent to what I got last year even though my parents made slightly less. I’ve never actually had to put money towards tuition while I’ve been here. I’ve only had to pay for rent and general living expenses.

@KimberlyLaila How come your sister hates it? The campus itself? The student body? The city?

@KimberlyLaila Seems weird you are on this thread just to say your sister hates usc

Student body and the city. She doesn’t like the all the smog/enviorn. issues,the ppl in general (although she has made a few friends), her advisor basicly discouraged her form STEM/her advisor had a degree in poli. sci., btw,she thinks the campus is nice, but it looks like a high school and is to small,among other things. She’s a very smart and mature person and the fam. went with her to visit so I know what she’s taking about. 8-}

Too small yet she wants to transfer to a smaller college?

I’m on the thread bcuz I’m sharing my opinion. You know, the whole point of a forum is to share and discuss views.

I got accepted for Spring 2015!!!

School: Marshalls Business
Overall GPA: 4.0
Spring GPA: 4.0
Units completed: 82
Transferable: not sure (definitely not 82)

I have been following this thread for months now; stressing about the wait since I too was in the SGR boat.
I had an SGR on 4/25. I sent in my springs grades on 5/29. I have never been able to access oasis (still can’t). I never received any indication on USConnect whatsoever but out of the blue on saturday (6/14) I got that golden ticket in the mail! I called admission today (4/16) asking why my USConnect page hasn’t changed since the SGR and they said that for some reason they hadn’t updated my page indicating my acceptance. My USConnect page was updated about 3 hours later and I was then able to immediately submit my “Intent to Enroll” form.

I hope this eases somebody’s anxiety. I know how difficult the wait can be. I was checking connect and this forum 4+ times a day since late May.

Just know that it is possible to get a letter in the mail without any changes on USConnect.

Best of luck to the rest of you. Hope to see you in the Spring =)

@kimberlylaila You obviously are in middle school, I would say 7th or 8th grade? You didn’t take into consideration the current context of the thread which was why @5nonnegotiables said what he/she said. Students here have either been rejected, accepted, or SGRed and have already decided that USC was the place for them. As a matter of fact, most of them and including myself, live in the Los Angeles area. Your comment, in my opinion, was misplaced.

TO ALL: I haven’t been posting but I have been keeping up with the thread. I am really hoping all of you get in! I can only imagine the pain of waiting.

Are there any spring admits here that have already received notification of Financial Aid?

@HopeForMarshall: Jeffrey saw his aid offer on USConnect approximately one week after his spring admission offer. I believe that you both were accepted on the same day so I would think you should definitely have yours by now.

I swear if I do not get an answer soon I think my anxiety is going to KILL me. I got an SGR on April 29th, and sent in my grades May 30th…I think they finished processing thursday…I wonder how long it is going to be :’(

@Ngarcia3 My thoughts exactly lol

And @KimberlyLaila No one is discouraging you from giving your opinion, we’re just inquired about a contradictory statement. It just makes no sense to hate a small campus then go to Smith/Wellesley haha. Also, you came into the thread with seemingly one purpose. If your sister hates 'SC, hoo-rah for her lol

Anyway @HopeforMarshall I did. It wasn’t too bad. We’re going to appeal though because we just had some huge stuff happen in our house w/Medical and living expenses. I got mine a week after I committed to enroll (about a week and a half after my acceptance). I had to provide additional info though

I actually would like to discourage @KimberlyLaila from giving her opinion.

The thread is called “Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread”, not “Randomly Share Your Family Members’ Negative Thoughts on USC Thread”. There is a time and place for everything…

Just noticed a typo. Thank you iPhone.

OMG!!! My StarsReports are all filled out! I’m super excited and shocked and …hopeful this means I’m really in! Looks like Fall 2013. Looks like none of my transfer classes are showing yet and so it shows me as a freshman (What!,) , when I’m transferring from sbcc as a Jr, with about 88 semester units and an AA Degreenfrom there. So I don’t know how long that takes. Wow I can’t believe this.

Dornsife - Political Science

I mean 2014!!! Crazy!! To give extra hope to anyone without a 4.0, my spring grades were about a 3.4-All A’s and B’s, but still.
