Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

How was people financial aid? Is it normal to just get loans only and no grants? The reason I’m asking is at Cornell University I was offered $38k and I would think I would qualify for some at USC.

Thanks and Fight On

I didn’t qualify for any aid, only loans. Ugh :(

Don’t forget anyone going to the July 15th orientation that pre-checklist is due today! “10 business days in advance”, and July 4th doesn’t count, so today would be the 10 business day mark. If you don’t finish all your stuff you can’t register for classes they stated!

Is anyone else from Dornsife still awaiting a response?

Restrictions still not updated since end of January?

it’s july and I don’t know where i’m starting school in august hooooorayyyy

@jack2011 Me too! I can hardly hold in the excitement

.

@hopefulsc‌ I’m still waiting for Dornsife too!

@jkahoes‌ Thanks so much for the reminder for the stuff for orientation, because I didn’t realize it was business days. Where do i find those 10 things to do again? Also, thanks for all the housing info, thats really helpful and I’ll definitely look up lorenzo today. So Great!!

I’m a Dornslife applicant as well, sent in my SGR June 19, few days later called to verify if they received it and they said Yes and that decisions would be coming out on a “rolling basis” until mid-July.
He also said that the decision wouldn’t come online until two business days after the Decision letter was shipped out.

The anticipation is killing me, I check OASIS daily to see if Restrictions/STARS has been updated but nothing’s changed since the end of January.

@5nonnegotiables‌ No problem! I barely remembered myself, so I figured I’d let people know lol. You can just look up “USC orientation” and the page for it should pop up. Yeah the Lorenzo is really popular and you should be able to find people looking for roommates as well!

@jkahoes ok great!

yea a couple of girls already msged me on the fb transfer page, about living together too, so good! Thx

Just wanted to say good luck to those of you who are still waiting!

DS was accepted (Dornsife) the other day and is currently waiting for his financial aid.

Has anyone applying for a viterbi not heard back yet?

@saywhatter I am waiting to hear back.

I got a email today :
Dear

Our records show that you are currently attending another school in the United States or are on Optional Practical Training (OPT).
If this is correct, you will need to contact your current institution and request a transfer of your SEVIS record to USC. Your SEVIS record must be transferred before the start of your term at USC. When your record has been released, we will issue you an I-20 for USC. Your SEVIS ID will remain the same. If you are on OPT, please be advised that you will lose your OPT status once your record is released to USC. Please make sure to plan your transfer date accordingly.
USC’s SEVIS code is LOS214F00291000 and we do not require any transfer-in forms.
If our information is incorrect and you are NOT currently attending school in the U.S., please let us know immediately. Likewise, if you are still in the U.S. but are not attending another school or are no longer on OPT, please clarify your visa status (i.e. visa type and expiration date).
Once your SEVIS record is released and has been transferred to USC, and we have all required documents/information, a transfer I-20 will be issued to you within two to three business days. Please email usci20@usc.edu and provide the address where you would like to have it mailed or confirm if you would like to pick it up on campus.
Upon arrival at USC, all international students are required to report to the Office of International Services (OIS) to complete Passport Verification (PPV). Information about PPV and other immigration related topics for new students can be found at OIS’s website at <a href=“Office of International Services – This can be used for School or Department Affiliation”>www.usc.edu/ois. For questions related to your immigration status, you can also email OIS at ois@usc.edu
If you have any additional questions regarding your I-20 issuance, please contact the Office of Admission by phone at 213-740-1111 or by email at usci20@usc.edu.

Regards,
USC Office of Admission I-20 Processing

But I didn’t get the offer and I checked the status online and there was no change. Does anyone know what happens?

@DIRECTPENG‌ That sounds like you got in. There area where it says “start of your term at USC”, to me, says that you’ve been accepted into a term at USC and probably just didn’t get acceptance pdf or pkg in the mail yet. Are you an international student? That’s really positive!!!

@5nonnegotiaables yes I am international student. The thing is I just updated my spring grade last Tuesday.

@DIRECTPENG‌ 's comment made me worry a little… I am for sure transferring but I dont remember officially withdrawing from my former institution. Will this have an effect on USC’s decision???
