Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

To the people who got in: did you find out through the mail or connect earlier? I know most of you found out on Oasis first but I can’t access that…

^^ I mentioned earlier about that on page 377.

I wonder if calling admissions and telling them that my situation with their decision is time sensitive will get my decision out faster but also jeopardize whether or not they choose me because I “bothered them”
I have orientation at UCI next week and not attending it will get me out of my housing contract there because I technically would not be a student if I did not attend orientation, but of course it’s my back up school next to USC who I am still waiting a decision on

@mockingmirror‌ I think that it wouldn’t hurt to call your counselor directly and politely explain your situation and just ask if they can give you any indication. My personal recommendation would be to attend your UCI orientation since there is a real possibility that USC will not accept you. You don’t want to shoot yourself in the foot by not going to the UCI orientation because you really do need to have a backup plan in place. Just my $0.02.

@jack2011 I found out on usc connect. There was a PDF in the admissions area and then the click to enroll box showed up a few days later. Good luck!!

What address did you guys send your official transcripts into?
I sent mine in two weeks ago to the address on the Spring Grade Submission Instructions page:

USC OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
UNIVERSITY PARK CAMPUS
P.O. BOX 77952
LOS ANGELES, CA 90007

I just called admissions right now and they never got them! Darn.

Does anyone else have the “Intent to Enroll” box on usconnect, but then when you click on it it just says “This site is not open to public access”? Is that bad news?

@caveman495‌ If you have the “Intent to Enroll” link, you have been admitted! Just give it another day or so for the system to update and the link should work. Congrats!

Thanks for the advice @dmdwelle‌

I just called Admissions and apparently the women who had emailed me at the end of the May with a supplemental question was my admissions counselor, LOL!
He told me to just email her directly and see if she could come up with a decision faster for me, so I did. Let’s see what she says, if anything at all. She seemed nice in the email conversation we had…

Here’s hoping because I have been so frantic lately, Fight On!

Ack! She replied within the hour and I guess there’s nothing she can do.
It seems as if the decision is made with more than just her opinion from the way she wrote this.

"Thank you for your email. The admission decisions will be released early to mid-July.

Our office does understand the sensitive nature of college choice and having to wait for the admissions decision. The decision moving forward between UCI and USC is an independent choice.

I empathize with you and the anxiety this process creates. I wish you all the best in your final decision.

Best,"

Looks like time sensitive decisions from other schools don’t speed up anything, for anyone reading this in the same situation in the future.

@caveman495‌ I have that “intend to enroll” box too and I also saw a box like “Transfer student facebook” but when I opened the “enroll” box there is nothing in there.

Where would you see your restrictions updated? Where is the stars report? Not sure what to look for for hints if I was accepted or not.

@GreatestThe‌ in oaisis… Starts report, restriction, or stars interactive sections… I think any type of changes means something is happening and a decision is about to be made on your application. Also keep checking connect in admissions section, a PDF msg, Facebook box and or intent to enroll box is what ur looking for. Good luck!!

Is anyone starting to think that we’re all going to be rejected? It doesn’t make sense for them to make us wait this long, in my mind, unless there are no more open positions. Maybe they’re just delaying for the chance that a position might open up for some of us.

I really hope I’m wrong though. (Viterbi checking in)

Edit: Or maybe they’re legitimately taking a long time sifting through our grade updates? Unlikely… but who knows.

@cidzor I heard someone earlier in the thread say people were still getting accepted last yr , based on cc, into August. So stay positive!! Good luck!

@cidzor If you go through last years thread you will notice majority of those that had to wait till “mid-july” were accepted. Doesn’t mean it’ll happen again this year but it’s definitely keeping my hopes up!

I got the offer today so stay positive!

hey guys…i called admissions and the person told me i should have my decision within 5-7 days and they will notify me through postal mail and on usconnect and email to check usconnect. now i have a question…for those of you who got accepted…did you receive an email to check on usconnect? also, for those who did not get in…did you receive something in the mail or just the pdf on usconnect? (last yr when i was rejected i didn’t receive anything in the mail just on usconnect that’s why i am asking) so with this info…i have a bad feeling that i may not get in bc i checked prev threads and those who got notified like a tad after the beginning of july (like the time period i will be receiving my decision) did not get in. idk i’m just at a crossroads.

@iloveasianguys‌ everyone should recieve their decision in 5-7 days because at that point it would be the 15th, the day decisions are suppose to be due.

Tomorrow does not count as a day because it’s a holiday, and obviously the weekends don’t count as days.

@mockingmirror thanks for that reply. well…here goes to waiting til that long ^^

this process is so hectic haha school starts in like seven weeks and I have no clue what summer school classes I should take because GE’s are different everywhere.
