Hello all! Sorry if this question has been previously asked/answered, this is my first time posting . Like many of you on here I am a transfer student and USC is my absolute FIRST choice. Though I’ve already completed my Associates degree at a CC and I’ve been accepted to two universities so far. Don’t get me wrong, I am stoked and flattered about getting into these schools already but again, USC is my top choice. So my question is this: The schools I’ve been accepted to want a decision and an enrollment deposit from me by May 1st, but if transfer applicants don’t hear from USC until June 1st does this mean I have to pay a deposit at one of these schools and then lose my $$ if by chance I do get into USC? Or do I not reserve my spot at another Uni and hope USC admits me? (This option seems too risky for me especially since my stats aren’t that competitive and my major is!) What is everyone else doing? Is anyone else in the same boat? I want to attend USC more than anywhere else, but I also want to be realistic and not put all my eggs in one basket and more importantly not lose money!
Sorry for the long(ish) post, but thanks in advance.

@Jazz49 If I get accepted to somewhere before USC I will place a deposit. It’s not worth gambling. If I end up getting into USC I will just forfeit my deposit and enroll to USC

@Ianbernas - Isn’t an admissions deposit normally nonrefundable?

@Jazz49 Put down an enrollment deposit at your “other” first choice, if USC admits you, rescind your enrollment at the other school. You will lose your deposit. (@esai23, you are correct). But please be aware that June 1st is the LATEST you will here from USC. They start sending decisions in late April!

@esai23 that’s what I mean. I would forfeit (lose) my deposit and just enroll at USC.

Quick question for you all
I am a freshman applying for sophomore transfer and was wondering if admissions cares if I take “easy” classes to fulfill my general requirements…is it more important to fulfill the requirements or take more challenging classes

I didn’t list my courses for Spring Quarter on the Current Courses portion of the CommonApp, seeing as how I didn’t know back in February what I’d be taking… Do I need to update SC and if so how?

@bballprofessor23 Call the admissions office and they can update it for you!

@vinny420 It’s a combination of both, I don’t think it’s possible to give an adequate guess.

@bballprofessional23

I think it could only help. It just looks like you are being proactive, which cant hurt right. Do you have midterm grades yet to post?

I got in!

April fools… :(

Today is the first day of the month that we begin to hear decisions. Godspeed.

@Roy I wanted to do that as an April Fools joke as well but I didn’t wanna jinks myself haha.

Good one!

What UC’s have y’all heard from?

I got into my one & only safety & 2nd pick, Cal Poly SLO
I didn’t apply to UCs

@hepburn95 I got into UC Santa Cruz. I’m waiting to hear from Berkeley (April 25th) and USC. How about you?

@seilburt So far I’ve gotten into 5 schools, one of which was UCR. Still waiting for some others, Berkeley is on the list! Quite a reach for me, but worth a shot. I have a feeling the site is going to crash! Everyone will be looking at once! Good luck wish all of your admissions, and congrats on UCSC!

@RoysGoin2College Congrats on SLO! Everyone I know that goes there loves it.

I’m so nervous!! Just a couple of weeks and people will start hearing back, and in 8 weeks time, we’ll all know.

I’m not so much nervous, because I know I can’t change anything that is happening, but I am extremely impatient! I just wish this process was quicker!
