Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

@epicer One of my backups is applying as an internal transfer if I get in to Marshall or undecided. At any rate my ultimate goal is to double major or obtain a second bachelor’s degree. However, it would be an honor to even Major in Business and Minor in Film (considering my chances).

I don’t want to go just to say “hey I’ve been”/get the degree. I want to go to take advantage of every single opportunity. I don’t know if I mentioned this before but my professor for a film class I’m taking got a PhD from there and taught a couple of classes there. My professor tells me that even though the chances are slim for ANYONE (regardless of talent), they think that the environment there would be great for me as a creator. However, my professor said that they think I’ll do great regardless of my environment simply because I have novel ideas that work.

Plus it would be nice to go to USC and pursue some of my other dreams of starting a school under the university (of course this is going to have to happen after I make enough money to do this). I know it sounds like a lot but I already have a detailed business plan and everything. I have big dreams and nothing is going to stop me from accomplishing them.

@HopeforMarshall I hope that is true because I put all my courses on common app according to the course # instead of the course name. It was the worst mistake I’ve ever made considering I’m taking some really important courses this semester (these are pre reqs/gen eds for USC and pre reqs for my university’s B-School). I changed them to their course names a month ago (on common app) and e-mailed them to my counselor. I really hope my regional counselor received that email.

@spiffyb0i I was on the quarter system at my community college but I graduated before I applied to USC. On my common app I specified this and sent them my complete CC transcript, this is why I was so perplexed as to why they emailed me asking for my winter grades because they had my complete and final transcripts already. I received the emails throughout mid to late March informing me to send my winter grades; then I finally called the admissions office to let them know I already graduated and the emails stopped.

@5nonnegotiables Thanks, but I am trying to not get my hopes up. I think transcripts need to be officially mailed from your previous institution straight to USC, sealed and all. I don’t think they can be uploaded by you online, so that might be why you can’t submit your spring grades online.

Oh stop @epicer I am sure you have just as good of a chance as the rest of us :-). I just thought my winter grade request was atypical because I specified on my common app that I already graduated from my CC and had no courses in progress. I thought it was just a glitch but I received like three emails so I don’t know…but I’m not reading too much into it, I don’t want to get my hopes ups, you know? Anyways, thanks and good luck to you, hope we see each other on campus this fall!

Also, I didn’t mean to get anyone’s hopes up, or down for that matter by saying I got a winter grade request. Nor do I think it confirms acceptance, just to clarify, sorry if this was misunderstood. Good luck to all, fingers crossed!

Does anyone know anybody who successfully transferred to USC School of Architecture?

@5nonnegotiables I read on USC’s admissions twitter and other threads that if spring grades are requested, a student can upload an unofficial copy of the grades but will need to send in the official transcripts in order to be verified. Similar to UCs and CSUs, unofficial transcripts to streamline the process and official to verify.

@HopeForMarshall What did you use for your login?

Yes everyone can get into oasis. It does not mean anything

Only if your stars audit report is actually filled out n not showing bright red font with the word error in it, then it could be a significant indicator of admissions

From what I understand, some of you guys already have Oasis accounts. Is Oasis something we are supposed to create on our own, or does USC send us an email regarding log in instructions?

@esai23 Just go to the site, and you an log in with your USC ID (which you can get on USC connect) and then I think the password is either the same as USC connect or your birthday.

@xsayax - I have my USC ID, but I just don’t know the password. I’ve tried my birthday (mmddyear) and my USC ID as the password. Did it just automatically work for you, or did you need to ask them for a password?

@esai23 It automatically worked for me, I don’t remember exactly how I got it set up though sorry!
Maybe try from here? https://my.usc.edu/portal/guest.php</a></p>

I currently have two kids at USC, a freshman and a senior. We have been helping one of their friends with transferring to USC and we can’t get him on OASIS. So obviously not everyone can get on…for what it is worth.

@esai23 I just logged on for the first time tonight successfully. Try your USC ID as your username and your birthday as your password but exclude the first two numbers of your birth year, so if you were born in 1990 you would just type 90 (first type your birth month and day). Hope this helps.

ok. I lied. We got on thanks to Jazz49. [=

What’s Oasis for?

@Jazz49 - Thank you for your suggestion! I successfully logged on using the method you provided! :)

Thank you xsayax for your help as well. I tried your link but it didn’t work for me.

For those of you that still need to get on to Oasis, try this:

 1. https://camel2.usc.edu/OASIS/</a>
 2. UN: USC ID; PW: mmddyy (As jazz mentioned, yy is the last two digits of your birth year)
 3. After logging in, you might be asked to change your password.

@RoysGoin2College‌ - I just briefly took a look at my oasis account and it looks like it’s used to register for classes, check transfer credit evaluation after being accepted, checking financial aid information, payment plans, etc. - Things which are not available at this time for us.

I am unable to log into OASIS.

It is my understanding that admission decisions are done in “waves”. If you are not able to log on now it does not mean that you will not be admitted. Also, if you are one of the many students that will be receiving and SGR or even a conditional admit then you would definitely not be able to log on. Would love to hear any other opinions on this. Keep the faith!!
