Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

So great to see this thread is providing a place for all of you to support each other while you go through this process. I started the thread in June 2013 after I received my transfer acceptance. I’m finishing up my first year at USC next month and I have to tell all of you I LOVE USC! I hope you all get the letter you are hoping for as SC is an amazing school and I have had an incredible year.
Fight On!!

So when is the earliest we could hear back? because i need to know asap seeing as to most other schools im considering have an early may deadline and it is stressing me out that i may not hear back from usc for a while.

@bballprofessor23‌ and anybody else wondering about the count,

I called way back right after applying and the USC counselor who answered firmly said to me that AP units do not count towards the 30 unit count. However, they will transfer for credit which is different. I asked why, and she said that the 30 unit count was only to see how much and what type of work you have done after high school which made total sense.

Let me point out that even though I have around 60 transferable units I asked because I want to transfer AP units as well to transfer as a junior; and since I saw people at the time had the same question I asked.

@olo59u‌ Don’t expect to hear back till around June 3rd.

I think we will hear back before June 3rd. Pretty sure around May.

@greengecko Some people might, but most hear seem to hear back during that last week of May, first week of June. But because the deadline to hear back isn’t till June 3rd, I don’t think that they should expect to hear back earlier if they’re waiting on USC to make their decision at other schools because they might not hear back till then.

So do these “I” marks mean I’m missing something or that I need to upload something for those respective boxes? In the required documents tab it says NONE and my common app and everything else came with Letters of Rec so I’m confused with USC Connect.

@2Dimes2Pennies‌ I can’t see your pictures, but I’m assuming you mean the red circles with yellow lower case i’s in italics? Clicking that just gives you more info or instructions about the document.

@greengecko‌ … Most people won’t hear back until the very end of May and up to the June 3rd deadline. Sometimes decisions trickle out after too.

@RandomNewGuy It says “We will be reviewing applications through the month of May, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify transfers by June 1st.” Does that also mean they haven’t looked at any of our applications yet?

Hello, does USC have a stats sheet somewhere that breaks down their acceptances by major? UCLA has this: https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof13_mjr.htm#CE

Just wondering if USC has something similar?

@xsayax Oh okay, thanks for that. I thought they was indicating that I was missing all of that info or something.

@back2it I am not sure if it is available to applicants. I emailed and inquired about Dornsife. They told me the average gpa is 3.68.

Also , I was told that applicants will be notified June 1rst.

@Katie617 What is your major?

@back2it @tay217 You may be able to find the numbers somewhere within the specific major section of their website. I found on Annenberg’s part of the site that their average GPA has “traditionally” been 3.7, although they do, of course, make the point that no GPA guarantees acceptance.

wait do we have to submit mid year grades? :o I didn’t think we had to

I hope letters come out soon

I just got an email saying decisions are out from UCLA, i went to check and it is indeed out. I’m so hyped just got accepted to UCD earlier today now accepted to UCLA as well. Will update later, GL to everybody else!

Edit: just talked to my buddy who also applied, he has also received an email but was unfortunately rejected :(.

any ideas when dornsife decisions come out?

Hi all, if we end up getting a spring grade request will it be through the mail? And if so is it a small envelope!?!? The fact our decisions can be seen through the size of an envelope might actually kill me :stuck_out_tongue:
