My CC ends in mid June… ugh. Since I got a SGR, I’m going to receive my decision much later.
I am quite confused of how SGR works now… So my cc isn’t over until the end of May. I will probably submit my grades by the first week of June, the earliest (crossing my fingers) and while other students from other ccs who end earlier will submit their grades earlier. Does that mean spots are being taken because their spring grades are being reviewed first?
Are they waiting to see how many students who have been accepted will reject due to various reasons?
@rosyme AFAIK from last year’s thread, a lot of people with SGR’s got their decisions back around mid-July. I highly, highly doubt you’re at a disadvantage just because your school might end the semester/quarter later than other schools.
@HappyLifeMachine I do hope that is the case… Their admission process needs some improvement. I don’t understand how they think it is okay for people are meant to wait another month and half for their decisions especially with other schools asking for deposits and SIRs.
@rosyme I totally agree with you that the admission process needs some improvement because I don’t think its fair that on June 1st you could get an SGR. I have yet to do my SIR and register for orientation because blowing $230 is not cool.
I just got an SGR today, I’m quite surprised thought I was going to be flat out rejected.
Everyone calm down! geesh… look… almost EVERYONE who is taking courses during the spring gets an SGR… USC likes to have a whole picture snapshot when making admission decisions… it does not mean anything one way or the other. and yes you should most definitely save a seat (put in your intent to register or whatever) at your secondary school. It would be a very bad idea not to. Also, yes it sucks that you have to drop a little money but USC is expensive and this is your first taste of that. It even costs money to apply for money (financial aid) USC even tries to sell you things while your on hold waiting to talk to someone. Also there are people on this forum who are flat out lying about things (I don’t know why they feel like they need to do that). So everyone keep calm! I’m sure you are going to be ok.
So because of the internal descion thing if we haven’t received anything from SC by now it’s pretty much a bad sign?
No if your GPA is good and consistent and they have enough units to work with, SGR is not important and you are fine. A lot of decisions will start coming out next week
@ForeverGymnast21 tbh I don’t think that internal decision thing is true. Last years thread had a lot of acceptances towards the end of May. I know it’s hard, but I’m trying not to read too much into what everyone is saying on this thread. There’s a lot of good info, but a lot of speculation as well. Stay postive
@ForeverGymnast21 i really don’t think that its a bad sign because most people haven’t heard anything, if it is true they just have to have decisions before they proceed with like printing letters etc but who knows. but i agree with @weare1… a lot of decisions will be out next week
@lordfx What reason does anyone here have to lie for? This seems be brought up every year that someone is lying about something. Are you talking about people getting an admissions decision or people who are claiming to have heard something from a counselor?
@weare1 the internal decision deadline actually makes a lot of sense. They need a hard cut off of when to make decisions (other than SGR applicants) so that they can commit to notifying all students who applied before June 1st. This year we’ve been seeing that acceptance letters are arriving through the mail before YouSC updates. If the internal deadline is today, they have a two week buffer to send out admissions decisions via mail (and depending where you’re located in the US, 1-2 weeks shipping time is a reasonable guess).
I wish they just updated the YouSC portal so we didn’t have to have to die in agony
@HappyLifeMachine Makes sense, but I don’t think posters should fret over not receiving a decision yet. There’s a lot of speculation going on in this thread that’s being passed off as fact (not talking about that internal deadline thing) which has people going nuts.
@mochibbycake @weare1
Do you guys mind posting your SGR stats on

? Thank you!
The internal deadline could be just a deadline for the first-level reviews, i.e counselors, to send applications to second level reviews. That would make sense.
That would be nice because according to OASIS they haven’t even started looking at my application.
@LoratheFora How did you check that?
I emailed them and asked them if we can access OASIS as applicants and someone emailed me back saying that we do not, and that we only have access to YouSC. How did you manage to log in OASIS @LoratheFora ?
