Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@zettasyntax you said 27k in gift aid. Do you mean grant or was this a combination of grant and scholarships? And since cost of attendance is a little over 60k, did they just offer you a bunch of loans? I just don’t get how it costs you 7k? But that’s great for you! Are you going to UCLA still?

@smileyface31 I didn’t get any kind of scholarships. They accepted me rather late (past the deadline to notify all people of an acceptance/rejection/SGR) and I believe only people accepted before the deadline could qualify for things like that =\ I thought the estimated COA was 60K too, but according to USC, it says the estimated cost of attendance is 33K, so I don’t really get that - maybe tuition is cheaper than I thought. They offered me about 5K in loans/work study, so if I take that into account too, they say I need to pay 2K out of pocket, but I would probably need loans to cover that too as I have pretty much nothing in savings. Some people have way better offers than I got :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t know. I probably am still going to be attending UCLA because the spring admit thing is really a lot for me to get over sadly =\

@zebra1000 I’m so sorry :frowning: I got rejected last year too with just one B grade and the rest A’s after an SGR, so USC can be pretty tough sometimes :frowning:

@zettasyntax Oh okay, thanks for letting me know! Are you in-state because I think that explains the 33k COA. Hopefully they’re generous to me.

Wait so I really didn’t know that we were required to take the math and chemistry placement tests? Is this really true or is this only for first year students?

The $33k makes sense since @zettasyntax is a Spring admit so it’s half of the $66k or so cost. It’s only for the one semester.

@GamerGal27 Ohh yeah that makes more sense lol, forgot she was a spring admit

@dannywj congrats on your acceptance! Do you mind telling us your major and spring gpa?

I got accepted around the deadline and got my financial aid info on you.usc.edu around the same time… and also I checked and it seems like that it is not an estimate but that it actually is your award letter… it is considered an estimate in that there are variables still left to consider which may change such as what will happen if you fall below full time or receive extra outside help in scholarships etc.

Thats how it was explained to me by a student… I dont know for a fact that it is true or not (I did not talk to financial aid)

Got Accepted!!

@GamerGal27 Wow, that does make sense! Ha, I was wondering why the tuition was so much lower than I remember it ever being. Also explains why my Pell Grant is halved from what it was while I was at CC.

@jasmine2468 congrats!! do you mind sharing your stats?

@dhailey @jch718 @zettasyntax Thanks for the kind words you guys. I tried my best and am proud of what I was able to accomplish. Probably headed to UCSD in the fall. Good luck to all of you!

thanks! @weare1 business admin at Marshall. spring was a 4.0 total 3.92.

@dhailey Sure
Junior transfer from CC in Pasadena.
4.0 GPA
All the pre reqs are completed including three semesters of language.
All the supplements for the school completed.
No major requirements.
Had an internship which I informed my advisor Diana in May and she added it to my file.

That one B in your spring grade transcript is scaring the hell out of me:(

@zettasyntax I thought tuition was 49k? Are you saying that USC overestimates?

@glamiex No no, GamerGal pointed out a major oversight that I made. I was not admitted into the fall 2015 class - so I would only be paying for the spring semester if I attended USC. So essentially, everything was halved for me - including the cost of attendance, When I used the financial aid calculator, it said the cost of attendance for a full year was about 64K, so my 33K COA makes sense - they only admitted me for half of the year.

I am a spring admit from a four year college…am I allowed to continue attending my four year college for another semester?

my YouSc page got updated and it now shows my acceptance letter  (after 3 days my printed letter was dated)

So we can only pay the enrollment deposit after the YouSc page updates right?
