Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@jch718 I hope they don’t send out mass rejections. That would be brutal considering it would affect a lot of people and their other plans. Best of luck to you too! Your response gives me hope that I’m not just waiting for nothing haha.

@madlion21 At least your counselor replied…I’ve been trying to contact him since 5/2 T_T

@beigecardigan Seriously I understand your pain. I check Yousc religiously i remember my front page changed to a different message when I received my SGR but everyone maybe different?

I just realized some people said they got an email about the “ability to benefit” thing… I didn’t get an email. I only saw it on my portal at noon. Not sure if I should be anxious (it already disappeared from my portal when I checked at night) :frowning:

Does anyone else find it to be a little cruel and unusual that usc makes us wait this long, and can still deny us? I mean some of us have been waiting over a month. That’s just absurd if they wait that long and still reject you

@jch718 i agree. i’ve been waiting for what seems like forever and even made a couple of phone calls only to hear the same thing over and over again “we have your transcripts, expect a decision before mid july”

i’ve been checking my portal every day and nothing has changed. a lot of things are on hold for me because i haven’t gotten a decision yet.

@dimples12 well at least I know I’m not the only one out there stressing. If you don’t mind me asking, when did you turn in your grades for spring and how many units/what grades did you receive over spring? I’m trying to find a link between myself and another applicant lol

@jch718 I agree. I have to lose $450 (SIR and housing contract cancellation to UCSB) if I end up going to USC. :frowning: I’m holding off on a lot of things (orientation, student fees, etc) as I’m waiting as well.

@mochibbycake do you think it’s likely you’ll choose SC over UCSB? Or does it depend in financial aid for you?

@jch718 @dimples12 @mochibbycake I’m torn between feeling grateful that they considered me for a spot and are trying to accommodate me (whether its via fall or spring admit) while feeling frustrated waiting so long for a decision to be made.

All of my other options aren’t in state, and the headache of planning a move within a few weeks because admissions decided to send me a rejection mid July is a scary and infuriating idea. Not to mention I might not even be able to accept those offers now. I hope we can all laugh about this in a week and have this weight of our chests! 8 more days people -__- This whole process truly defines, fight on! >.<

@BeigeCardigan @mochibbycake I commend you guys on actually applying to other schools. I was a “usc or bust” kid and I’m starting to regret. I knew if usc rejected me, I’d definitely attend that backup school rather than waiting another year to achieve my dream. In retrospect, that probably wouldn’t have been such a bad idea. Especially seeing as the first email I came across this morning was a registration date for my CC in 4 days:(

@jch718 It depends on financial aid for me, even if USC is my top choice school. Even if it’s a bit expensive than SB, I’d still choose SC. Only when it’s definitely beyond my level of affordability, then I’ll go to SB. My counselor made sure I had a backup school just in case, haha.

@BeigeCardigan Same! I would be extremely grateful if they accepted me, but it’s definitely stressful to last minute cancel or change plans… Everyone is enjoying their summer while I’m still trying to figure things out.

@dimples12 I totally understand your pain. I’ve called and religiously checked my portal and it seems like USC Has completely forgotten about me lol

@mochibbycake seriously! Usc making this late of a decision whether accept/reject doesn’t give me an option to plan for “what’s next” especially that it affects so many academic and personal decisions. HUGE headache

@jch718 also a usc or bust kid here lol but honestly regardless of whether USC accepts or rejects it’s not practical or convenient that they wait especially if it’s a rejection

@BeigeCardigan I was actually thinking that too. Do you think its possible that were still waiting to be placed for a spot?..or just that the counsellors are slow?also same here. My only other option is out of state which is annoying because I have so little time to plan for so much things T.T

Oh yeah, I’m also a junior transfer so I don’t get the benefit of applying again like sophomore transfers. That’s why I needed a back up school.

I really think they’re seeing how many enroll before they accept more students.

@mochibbycake Hey Cindy, its Crystal. LOL. I know i had to pay $650 dorming placement fee last week for UCSD. :frowning:

AhhHHHHHHHH so I just checked my USC portal and they requested additional finical aid info!!! Which was the " Parents’ 2014 W-2 Forms."Is this a sign that I got accepted or they just generally want more information?Ahhh this is making my so nervous!!! I checked my portal yesterday and it wasn’t there!!! And under my finical aid status, it has the red exclamation mark. ;))

I’m not sure about that, but I had the same exact request during April for “Parent’s 2014 W2 Form”. I am still awaiting my decision.

Parents 2014 W2 form isn’t really a sign of acceptance. However the ability to benefit verification form is.

guys. I totally felt forgotten about too but I just checked my portal and got the ability to benefit notification under my financial aid. I can’t believe it actually (and finally) changed!

@infinitely2014 don’t lose hope cause I felt exactly the same way and kind of still do since the ability to benefit isn’t really a set decision

@jch718 I did 15 fall and 12 in spring with a 4.0 in both semesters! I sent in my grades June 6!

@transfergirl0006 I have my orientation scheduled for July 13th as well! Marshall

Is the ability to benefit only for those who applied for financial aid?

@infinitely2014 I believe it’s a little of both. I don’t see the ethical reason to deny someone so late in the year. With that in mind, I think they are genuinely “trying” to help us out. I’ve also seen people post regarding their experiences corresponding with counselors ranging from cooperative to flat out unresponsive. What are your OOS options?
