Yup they do sometimes! It’s kinda rare but if someone were to apply to the film school (super selective) and their film skills aren’t good enough but they happen to be super smart too, USC might decide to admit them to SC but not to the major the originally chose

A student may be admitted to SC in a second choice major. Sometimes undeclared can be a student’s first choice.
Phew! I do hope they consider me for the university itself. Viterbi is extremely competitive and the majors I listed are both engineering majors. I’d be happy just to get in as it is, even if it does mean being undeclared! :-S
@JordiDoesItWell Exactly! I would be happy just to get in, especially with this year’s projected 16% acceptance rate (and SCA’s 4% acceptance rate).

@couplemoreweeks it really depends on what time they send it and what time your mail comes, it totally may come tomorrow but I’d say Wednesday is a better bet 
Although I’m secretly hoping it’ll come tomorrow haha but my mail comes in the morning so I know it wont but still haha

@JordiDoesItWell Not necessarily! I mean, no one can consider USC a safety with that acceptance rate – it’s practically a reach for everyone because you’re looking at an 83-84% denial rate…But someone has to get in!
I hope the tens and tens of hours of writing and rewriting and a USC PhD alumnus recommendation and my passion for the school and filmmaking come through on the app 
Live 32 minutes away from USC… tomorrow might come the day…I fully expect rejection but still…
I meet the ~average makeup of USC’s students(1970 SAT/3.8 unweighted gpa) but I’m really average otherwise. Only thing i got going for me is (what I’ve been told is) my “incredible” backstory.
I got plain rejected by UCLA though lol… not even waitlisted. I’ma be depressed tomorrow/wednesday I can just feel it… ucsd here I come :[

yea i will most likely end up going to ucsd too. ucb and usc iis kinda a crapshot
It sucks having such a competitive and selective and AMAZING school as your dream school…

@FilmMaker1 Incredibly true, and hopefully I can be one of those lucky “someone” that gets in! It seems were on the same boat, I don’t know how many days I spent rewriting my supplements and researching online for the best way to come across as someone who is genuinely a Trojan at heart! I also had a USC alumnus to write my recommendation!
@ChipFoggers I was also rejected at UCLA as a BME major… bleh. I am considered below average for a USC admit but I do hope they still give me a chance! And don’t worry, UCSD is an amazing school… I plan on transferring to USC from UCI if I don’t get in.
@chipfoggers: Did UCLA ask you for supplemental information before rejecting you? I heard the UCs did that with those on the edge.
